Just three years removed from a winless season in 2011, the Knights defeated visiting Fletcher 28-7 Friday night to finish undefeated in District 3-7A and claim the program's first district title. Johnson tossed a 32-yard touchdown pass to junior Marcus Johnson in the second quarter to tie the game at 7. In the second quarter, Jordan Johnson powered in on a QB sneak to pad Oakleaf's lead to 21-7. Jordan Johnson finished 15 of 26 for 242 yards, and Marcus Johnson had seven catches for 119 yards. Senior Sean Pruitt added some cushion for the Knights with another pick 6 late in the fourth quarter.

Clay swept its district opponents and moved to 8-1 for the season with a bye week next week. The Panthers (3-4, 1-2) weren't the only thing knocked out at Clay -- the field lights went out for about 20 minutes in the second quarter. Then after the lights came back on, Turner threw a 25-yard TD to Wilson again with 3 seconds to play in the half. Wilson contributed another TD on a 1-yard run, and sophomore Angel Valdes put the final touches on with a 12-yard TD run in the fourth quarter. He had a 2-yard TD run in the first quarter to tie the game at 7 early.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Westside High took command of District 3-5A Friday night with a 38-20 victory over visiting Bishop Kenny. "We always had talent on the Westside, just a matter of structure and focus, and believing in ourselves," head coach Rodney DuBose said. DuBose's son, junior quarterback Amari DuBose, rushed for two touchdowns and threw for another to help lead Westside to the key district win over the Crusaders (4-1, 3-1). DuBose opened the scoring in the first quarter with a 1-yard keeper, then threw a 78-yard touchdown to junior Darius Hall in the second quarter to give Westside a 12-7 lead. Bishop Kenny took a brief lead in the second quarter after recovering a fumble.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Senior Taylor Thomas scored three touchdowns for Ed White as the Commanders cruised to a 40-7 victory over visiting Orange Park in district action Friday night. Thomas' first score came on a 29-yard pass from senior quarterback Trevor Seigler. He sidestepped his way across the goal line to give Ed White a 20-0 lead in the second quarter. He caught a 29-yard TD pass from Seigler to open the scoring and scored again on a 29-yard sweep. Senior Tre Mincey scored the only touchdown for Orange Park on a 1-yard run in the second half.

FLEMING ISLAND, Fla. – A field goal as time expired gave visiting Clay High School a dramatic 25-22 victory over county rival Fleming Island High on Friday in the teams' regular-season opener. "Outstanding game by both teams," Clay coach Josh Hoekstra said. Showers scored two TDs for Fleming Island: one on a 5-yard sweep and another on a 26-yard run. Bilal Ally also scored for Clay, diving into the end zone after a pass from Turner. Wilson scored a second TD on a 20-yard run in the third quarter.

Early in the 1st quarter, Ed White showed their speed when Taylor Thomas took the handoff and got North South in a hurry, all the way for the 60 yard score. A few plays later, Kamario Bell takes the handoff off the left side for the 2 yard touchdown. Two plays later DeShawn Patterson hits Javonte Ferguson in stride in the end zone to make it 24-10. And Ed White would win it by a final of 34-17.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The annual matchup between Paxon and Stanton was scoreless until the third quarter, when the Golden Eagles' Tyson Wright takes the hand off and goes 35 yards for the touchdown. Paxon takes a 7-0 lead. Then in the fouth quarter, Robert Florence goes in untouched from 10 yards out for another TD and the Eagles went on to win 21-7. "Great win for Paxon. This is the second year in a row Paxon has come out victorious in the annual matchup with Stanton that the students of Duval County's two academic magnet schools have nicknamed the "Brain Bowl."

ORANGE PARK, Fla. – It was another tight ball game for our second Game of the Week in Clay County, as the Oakleaf Knights hosted the Orange Park Raiders. In the second quarter, Oakleaf quarterback Jordon Johnson lobbed it up for J.C. By the fourth quarter, Orange Park had closed the gap to within 5 points, when Jacob Mezera hit Raekwon Fuller for a 17-yard touchdown. "We try and tell our kids you never quit, you never quit until the end. Oakleaf did the same thing," Orange Park Coach Craig Nosse said.
