Greece says Turkey's 2-state model for Cyprus a non-starter
Raab pledged support in helping to โbreak the logjamโ that has blocked a peace deal for nearly a half-century, fueled tensions over offshore energy reserves and encumbered Turkeyโs relationship with the European Union. Greek Cypriots strongly reject any deal that would legitimize the east Mediterranean island nationโs ethnic partition. AdOnly Turkey recognizes a Turkish Cypriot declaration of independence in the islandโs northern third where it keeps more than 35,000 troops. Although Cyprus is an EU member, only the Greek Cypriot southern part where the internationally recognized government is seated enjoys full membership benefits. The last push for a peace deal in July 2017 collapsed amid much acrimony.

Can we retire a Greek hurricane name? Delta made us wonder.
Louisiana residents who are still recovering from the devastation of a powerful hurricane less than two months ago braced for another hit as Hurricane Delta steamed north through the Gulf on Thursday after swiping Mexicoโs Yucatan Peninsula, the Associated Press reported. โThey do not retire Greek alphabet storm names -- at least so far,โ Gross said. The last time we went through all the letters of the alphabet and moved on to the Greek alphabet was 2005. In 2005, a record-breaking year of devastating hurricanes, we made it through six Greek letters. The Committee also agreed that it was not practical to retire into hurricane history a letter in the Greek alphabet.

Greek police arrest 1985 TWA hijacking subject
Ted Quackenbush via Wikimedia Commons(CNN) - Greek police say they have arrested a 65-year-old Lebanese man on the island of Mykonos over the hijacking of TWA Flight 847 in 1985 in which a US Navy officer was killed. The suspect, named by Lebanon's foreign ministry as Mohammad Saleh, was stopped on Thursday during a routine security check when his description matched those on a German warrant for his arrest, Greek police told CNN. "A charges d'affaires will head to Athens at 7am on Sunday to Syros island to meet with Saleh and to offer him consular assistance," the Ministry added. Greek police are cooperating with German authorities on the investigation, Chronopoulos said. Greek restaurant bounces back after unexpected closure
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A Greek restaurant is quickly bouncing back after an unexpected closure. News4Jax recently went to Athens Cafe in San Jose to see how the crew is recovering from a recent run-in with pests and how they're cleaning up their act. Though Jacksonville may be thousands of miles away from the Mediterranean, Sam Savvidis said Athens Cafe on St. Augustine Road is the closest you can get to a true Greek experience. "This is the same food you will find if you go to Greece -- anywhere in Greece," said Savvidis, the owner of Athens Cafe. The walls of the cafe are covered with Greek art, while music and photos fill the restaurant.
Don't panic: Athens Cafe is back open
"This is the same food you will find if you go to Greece- anywhere in Greece," Savvidis said. For more than two decades, he's worked hard to offer Greek food while sharing his culture with the community. The walls of his restaurant are covered with Greek art while music and photos fill the room. But when health inspectors found roaches throughout the kitchen last month, the 3-day closure that followed was hard to swallow. "We were caught by surprise and so we took action in trying to bring the right companies in to rectify the problem," Savvidis said.
