One fan favorite was a no-show when Saturday Night Live kicked off its 45th season this weekend -- Pete Davidson. The 25-year-old comedian was missing in action because he's hard at work on the set of a new comic book adaptation, The Suicide Squad, in Atlanta. While SNL newcomers Bowen Yang and Chloe Fineman were showcasing their comedic chops, Davidson was at a special screening for Joker with his Suicide Squad co-stars, including Margot Robbie, Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney and more. Warner Bros. Pictures via CNN(CNN) - Director James Gunn has revealed the full list of super villains and anti-heroes cast in his upcoming "The Suicide Squad" movie. While Robbie's Harley Quinn -- deranged henchwoman and on again, off again girlfriend of the Joker -- will be back, the future of the Joker in Gunn's film unclear. Jared Leto, who played the Joker on the 2016 film "Suicide Squad," is off the director's lineup as well as Will Smith who portrayed the deadly accurate assassin Deadshot. Gunn, who previously directed "Guardians of the Galaxy," also wrote the new installment of the comic book villains film. The studio behind "The Suicide Squad," Warner Bros., is, like CNN, a unit of WarnerMedia.

Read full article: Sean Gunn helped launch Rocket Raccoon, now he's flying high

As the man who provided the physical performance for Rocket Raccoon in four Marvel Studios movies, he's not wrong. It's not like Gunn, the younger brother of "Guardians of the Galaxy" writer-director James Gunn, has been lacking in on screen face time outside of his furry alter ego. He's amassed dozens of film and TV credits over a twenty-plus year career, most notably as local oddball Kirk Gleason on "Gilmore Girls," and, in a second Marvel role, the space mercenary Kraglin in both "Guardians" films. He's especially gratified that he'll be re-teaming with his brother for "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. "So I have very high hopes that it's going to be an excellent movie -- but that's all I can say for now!"

ET: Especially after seeing behind-the-scenes footage from Endgame, there's been this swell of newfound appreciation for the on-set work you do as Rocket. What is strange to other people looking in, is not always as strange to the person experiencing it, you know? I'm always happy to and really grateful to be a part of the universe and when they call, I answer. Now that we know Thor: Love and Thunder is coming before Guardians 3, do you think there is still a chance for a Thor crossover there?
