City opens up 13-point lead in EPL, Coutinho scores on debut

Pep Guardiola's biggest challenge now might be convincing his Manchester City players the English Premier League title race is not over.

Liverpool loses for 2nd time in EPL, big blow to title hopes

Liverpool has lost 1-0 to Leicester in a big blow to the team's chances of winning the Premier League title.

Frustration for Ronaldo, joy for Werner in Premier League

Cristiano Ronaldo was grumbling to himself and shaking his head as he went straight toward the tunnel at the final whistle of Manchester United’s latest slip-up at Old Trafford.

Leicester rallies for 1-1 with 10-man Southampton in EPL

Leicester’s bid for Champions League soccer has suffered a minor setback after having to settle for a 1-1 draw with 10-man Southampton in the English Premier League.

Bold approach proves costly for Arsenal in latest slipup

Arsenal's manager Mikel Arteta reacts during the English Premier League soccer match between Burnley and Arsenal at Turf Moor stadium in Burnley, England, Saturday, March 6, 2021. Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka received a short pass from goalkeeper Bernd Leno, took a slightly heavy touch onto his weaker right foot, then attempted a dangerous pass across the face of goal around Burnley striker Chris Wood. “It’s the way we play and the way we want to play,” said Arteta, whose side had gone ahead through Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. He was sent off in the teams’ meeting at Emirates Stadium in December and also in their game in January 2017. The team hasn't played in the Champions League since the 2016-17 campaign, missing out last season after a late collapse.

FA Cup holder Arsenal eliminated, Man City survives scare

In an otherwise close game, Gabriel's decision to try to block a shot from Kyle Walker-Peters proved decisive for Arsenal losing its hold on the cup. CITY UNDER PRESSURECheltenham came close to one of the biggest shocks in the 150-year history of the FA Cup before Pep Guardiola's City team scored three late goals. We won the game and we are happy to win this game in this type of competition," Guardiola said. VILLA ON THE RISEAston Villa beat Newcastle 2-0 to move within three points of sixth-place Everton in the only Premier League game on Saturday. Newcastle lost its fourth straight league game and is in 16th place, increasing the pressure on manager Steve Bruce.

Leicester piles more misery on Chelsea to go top of EPL

(Michael Regan/Pool via AP)Five years after achieving the unthinkable, Leicester is back atop the Premier League and making another improbable run at the title. For big-spending Chelsea and its under-pressure manager, Frank Lampard, any ambitions of winning the league already appear to be dashed. Leicester beat Chelsea 2-0 on Tuesday to jump above the two Manchester clubs, United and City, and reach the midway stage of its league campaign in first place. IN-FORM ANTONIOAs it stands, West Ham is heading into the second half of its Premier League campaign with just one senior striker.

Relief, happiness as Bale is Tottenham's match-winner again

Tottenham's Gareth Bale, right, celebrates with teammate Eric Dier following the English Premier League soccer match between Tottenham Hotspur and Brighton & Hove Albion at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London, Sunday, Nov. 1, 2020. (John Walton/Pool via AP)LONDON – Gareth Bale soared into the air, connected with the ball and powered it into the net. It's taken more than seven years but Bale was Tottenham's match-winner again. And it had only required three minutes on the field for the substitute to clinch a 2-1 victory over Brighton on Sunday. “A bit of relief and a lot of happiness,” Bale said after being set up by Sergio Reguilon, who also switched from Real Madrid in September.

Everton loses last unbeaten record in unpredictable EPL

Everton was the last side to relinquish its undefeated record in this most unpredictable of seasons, though the 2-0 loss at Southampton didn’t knock Carlo Ancelotti’s side off the top of the standings on Sunday. Playmaker James Rodriguez was quiet and striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin failed to score in a league game for the first time this season. Aston Villa was the other unbeaten team coming into this round but was outclassed in a 3-0 defeat by Leeds on Friday. The win over Everton came on the one-year anniversary of Southampton's 9-0 loss to Leicester. By stooping to head home a cross from fellow substitute Cengiz Under following a rapid counter-attack in the 80th minute, Vardy scored his 11th Premier League goal against Arsenal.
