TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Voting yes on Amendment 2 to boost Florida’s minimum wage will either give 2.5 million workers a pay raise or result in 158,000 jobs disappearing over the next few years. Supporters need to win approval from 60 percent of voters to increase the minimum wage, a proposal spearheaded by prominent Orlando attorney John Morgan. What I mean by that is that Democrats tend to favor increases in the minimum wage at higher rates than Republicans,” Wagner said. Florida TaxWatch and the Florida Chamber of Commerce are among groups that have released studies highly critical of the amendment. President Trump announced the news in a tweet, saying he and First Lady Melania Trump tested positive. Later Friday, the White House said the president was being taken to Walter Reed Medical Center for a few days' stay. The president signs a letter authorizing the vice president to lead the nation in his absence, said Michael Binder, associate professor of political science at the University of North Florida. Like the initial letter passing the proverbial baton to the vice president, Binder said, the protocol for a president to resume his duties involves stating in writing that he is prepared to return to office. If a president were to pass away before the election but win re-election, he said, the vice president would become president and name a vice president who would assume office upon Congressional confirmation.

Getty ImagesJACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A University of North Florida poll released Tuesday shows registered voters in Florida are split over the formal impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump. Of the more than 600 registered voters interviewed last week, 48% approved of the House of Representatives formally beginning an impeachment inquiry into Trump while 47% disapproved, according to the poll. The strongest support came from registered Democrats at 82% approval with only 13% approval among registered Republicans. "This similarity speaks to the division within the electorate regarding Trump: either they support removing him from office, or they are opposed to the impeachment inquiry entirely. UNF Trump Poll"The head-to-head horserace questions for the 2020 election appear to reinforce two popular narratives," Binder said.
