The collision caused the motorcycle driver to fall into the roadway, according to FHP. The driver was taken to UF Health where he was pronounced dead. The investigation is still ongoing and charges are pending, according to FHP.

The preserve neighbors Pumpkin Hill Creek Preserve State Park and the Timucuan Ecological and Historic Preserve and protects nearly one mile of critical marsh front on Clapboard and Bogey Creeks, according to NFLT. Bogey Creek Preserve was acquired in 2017 through community donations and was opened to the public in 2019. This anonymous donation, donations from the community and a matching $10,000 donation from Timucuan Parks Foundation helped the nonprofit exceed the $150,000 purchase price. The additional funds will go to the Amelia Forever Campaign which was created to acquire the remaining natural spaces that exist on Amelia Island.

The organization teamed up with Farm Share and the Rotary Club of North Jacksonville to provide groceries to families. Charles Green, the manager of the food pantry at Community Health Outreach, said the food pantry typically serves about 500 families a week. However, during the pandemic he said the need has increased to between 600 and 700 families. "Especially when you have families coming in who have lost income, or they don't have any income and yet they're able to come here."
