Jacksonville Beach mom now charged with murdering 3-year-old son
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ The Jacksonville Beach Police Department announced Friday night that a mother has been charged with the murder of her 3-year-old son. Amy Oliver, 46, was arrested after her son was found unresponsive on the floor of a bedroom at a home on Republic Drive in Jacksonville Beach in October. Oliver was taken to a hospital for treatment after paramedics tended to her self-inflicted wounds, the report said. During an interview, Oliver said โthe child didnโt sufferโ and that she โdid not want the child to go on living without her,โ according to the Jacksonville Beach Police Department. Sheโs charged with first-degree murder, aggravated child abuse and child neglect.
Bond revoked for mother under investigation after death of young son

Her son, who court records show was 3, later died, and News4Jax learned that Oliver is considered a suspect in his death. The bond revocation motion said Oliver had used a razor to slash herself in the neck, wrists and upper thighs.

JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. โ A day after News4Jax learned that a mother is under investigation following the death of her young son, an arrest report revealed new details about what happened Tuesday night. Amy Oliver, 46, was arrested after her son was found unresponsive on the floor of a bedroom on Republic Drive in Jacksonville Beach. Her son, who court records show was 3, later died, and News4Jax learned that Oliver is considered a suspect in his death. The arrest report said the father of the child forced the door open and JFRD personnel entered and found Oliver holding an uncapped syringe. Oliver then lunged toward a JFRD member in his full uniform, โmaking a stabbing motion with the syringe,โ the report said.

News4Jax spoke to DโArienzo in broad terms about similar cases and what could be the driving factor in those situations. โA parent can be acutely psychotic or number two there is a history of child treatment, where a child has been battered or this is an unattended death,โ DโArienzo said. โThere can be altruistic reasons where itโs an act of love where theyโre trying to help the child avoid perceived suffering.
