He oversees 85 year-round staff members including 100 additional volunteers from around the world who help out just for tournament week.

He was captain when Europe rallied from a 10-6 deficit to beat the Americans in the 2012 Ryder Cup at Medinah, and he was Ryder Cup captain for a rare U.S. victory four years later at Hazeltine. He also was an assistant captain in the Ryder Cup under Corey Pavin in 2010 and Jim Furyk in 2018 and is on the staff of Steve Stricker this year. The Presidents Cup was supposed to be played this year until the COVID-19 pandemic led to the Ryder Cup being postponed one year to this September. ... Six groups ahead of him, Cantlay shot a 61 and surged out of 13th place to the front while breaking the Stadium Course record by two strokes. “I had to know what’s going on, so I knew how to play my game in the final round,” Kim said. “I knew Cantlay played really well. Tony Finau (68) finished fourth after starting the final round with a share of the lead in his quest to land his long-awaited second PGA Tour win. The 28-year-old Cantlay made 11 birdies in the final round, including six in eight holes on the front nine.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Pete Dye, one of the most well-known golf course designers and a member of the World Golf Hall of Fame, died on Thursday. Dye, 94, was the architect of dozens of public and private courses, but TPC Sawgrass Stadium Course remains his gem on the First Coast. Dye, along with his wife, Alice, were responsible for designing some of the best golf courses in the country. “Pete, though, was always quick to credit his beloved wife, Alice, with his success, including the concept for his most famous hole, the 17th island green at TPC Sawgrass. “Pete Dye left an imprint on the world of golf that will be experienced for generations, painting wonderful pictures with the land that continue to inspire, entertain & challenge us,” Suzy Whaley, the president of the PGA of America, said in a statement.
