Exceeding expectations are the theme the Florida Gators are rolling with at SEC Media Days

The third in-person meeting of conference commissioners who manage the College Football Playoff since August ended without a resolution on expansion, but not without optimism.

SEC Media Days is capped off as the media submits their selections for predicted order of finish. It comes as no surprise that the Gators have been pegged to finish fourth in the SEC East.

Two-time defending conference champion Alabama was predicted to win a third consecutive Southeastern Conference title in voting at this week’s SEC Media Days.

Georgia head coach Kirby Smart has been grumbling about the Florida-Georgia game being held in Jacksonville for years, and during Southeastern Conference Media Days this week, he renewed his calls for the annual rivalry game to be played on the universities’ campuses instead.

Billy Napier came to SEC Media Days as one of the new faces in the conference, and displayed to the country, the same message he has since he took the Florida job… There is a lot going on in year one of taking over as Gators head coach.

There was very little drama when the SEC media made their predictions for the 2021 season. It was a foregone conclusion that Alabama would win the SEC West and SEC while Florida would be picked behind Georgia to win the SEC East.

Georgia went from a program with very little quarterback talent to a program with a lot of quarterback talent. This year, the Bulldogs are heading into the season with arguably the most talented quarterback in the entire SEC, JT Daniels, and that should just tell you where their expectations are for this Bulldogs offense this fall. They're pretty high.

Dan Mullen, Zach Carter, and Ventrell Miller made their way to Birmingham, Alabama for the 2021 edition of SEC Media Days. While the Gators are the reigning SEC East division winners, these Gators were peppered with questions of change on the offense and a turnaround on defense.

Southeastern Conference Commissioner Greg Sankey is echoing a call for potential changes in how college athletics are governed.

This year’s SEC Media Days will look a little different than year’s past as far as the Florida Gators go. Only two players, instead of three, get to join Dan Mullen and both players are from the defensive side if the ball.
