Nor’easter conditions expected at the beaches

Minor tidal flooding inundation around the times of high tide for both the coast, ICWW and St. Johns River basin will continue throughout the weekend mostly in Northeast Florida.

Saturday night temperatures will drop into the mid-50s before midnight Sunday with mostly clear skies and no chance for rain. There will be little to no wind coming from the north and northeast.

Temperatures remain in the upper 50s, low 60s to start out Monday morning

Light coastal rain is possible into the early morning hours of Sunday.

Tonight brings temperatures in the mid 50s after sunset. Temperatures will continue to drop into the low 50s to upper 40s by midnight with clear skies and no rain.

Very consistent weather pattern for us, easterly winds have kept our temperatures below normal. At times the breeze has actually felt coolish. These winds have gusted up to 30 mph which have built up the surf to nearly 5′, with seas offshore above 6′.

Our rain chances have dropped for NE FL but those across SE GA will continue to see showers track north this evening. Strong winds will continue along our beaches with a north wind 17 to 20 mph and gusts 30+ mph. We do have a Gale Warning offshore and a Small Craft Advisory along our beaches due to rough seas and rough surf. Cloudy skies and strong northeasterly winds 15-20 mph will continue through the night with lows dropping into the low 50s. Nor’easter conditions will follow us into Monday before we slowly improve with the a peek of sunshine returning Tuesday with highs back in the 70s - Yay!

Tuesday thereafter conditions really get nice with highs in the 80s.

Along with the small craft advisory that goes until 5 p.m. Sunday, there is also a High Surf Advisory until 2 p.m.A much different picture than what we saw last weekend. The proposed new system would retain the Watch and Warning terms - but remove the Advisory term, since years of feedback has indicated that it is generally misunderstood. Instead, they would streamline all information that doesnt reach the Watch and Warning level into a single plain-language statement, with a few exceptions. One of these exceptions would include the Small Craft Advisory. So it is proposed that the Small Craft Advisory will now become a Small Craft Warning. This change would also align this product with all other marine Warnings so that the severity of all marine wind hazards is uniformly denoted by the first term within the headline (i.e., - Small Craft, Gale, Storm, and Hurricane Force Wind Warnings).

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Today was cloudy and breezy, with mild afternoon temperatures in the upper 70s and low 80s. We saw a few isolated coastal showers in our southernmost counties, all other areas will most likely remain dry. Thursday will be mostly cloudy and warm, with a few coastal showers. we should see most of the showers pushing out of our area. We will wake up in the low 50s and warm up into the mid 70s.
