Los Angeles Kings forward Andreas Athanasiou was also cleared after spending a league-high 21 days on the list. The professional hockey team started in 2013 in the Central Hockey League, helping fill the void after the Ontario Hockey Leagueโs Brampton Battalion moved to North Bay. The New Jersey Devils still lead all NHL teams in both the number of players and the number of combined days on the COVID-19 list.

The list is used for players who either test positive for the coronavirus or have had close contact with someone who tested positive. ___Bill Haas has tested positive for the coronavirus and has withdrawn from the RSM Classic this week at Sea Island. ___An unidentified New York Giants player has tested positive for the coronavirus, prompting the team to work remotely Tuesday.

The Latest on the effects of the coronavirus outbreak on sports around the world:___The European Tour has decided against having a limited number of fans for the Scottish Open next week. The tour says because of a recent update on the Scottish government's guidelines for COVID-19, the tournament at the Renaissance Club with not have spectators. It would have been the second golf tournament to have fans, after the Sanford International two weeks ago in South Dakota on the PGA Tour Champions. Another postponed game, Virginia-Virginia Tech, had previously been moved to that date as well. The positive tests at Notre Dame also caused South Florida to pause on-field football activities Wednesday.
Notre Dame-Wake Forest postponed after Irish positive tests
Notre Dameโs game at Wake Forest on Saturday has been postponed after positive COVID-19 tests landed 13 Fighting Irish players in isolation and another 10 in quarantine. Notre Dame said 94 football players were tested for COVID-19 on Monday and of those seven were positive. Those players were in isolation along with others who tested positive last week. โWe managed an increase in positivity rates in August, and the players handled it wonderfully," Notre Dame coach Brian Kelly said. BYU had to postpone its game last week at Army after having players test positive for COVID-19.
Smart finds no QB clarity in No. 4 Georgias 2nd scrimmage
4 Georgia on Saturday provided no clarity to the quarterback competition that continues without a top contender. After Wake Forest transfer Jamie Newman announced his decision to opt out on Wednesday, the competition took on a different look. Smart said another transfer, former Southern Cal starter, JT Daniels, and DWan Mathis worked with the first-team offense in the scrimmage. Nobody has really taken charge and taken over. I am under the assumption that that is going to happen, but that is not my decision, Smart said.
Georgia QB Newman opting out of season to prepare for draft
ATHENS, Ga. Jamie Newman, the Wake Forest transfer who was the projected starting quarterback for No. 4 Georgia, is opting out of the season to prepare for the 2021 NFL draft. Former walk-on Stetson Bennett, who was Jake Fromms top backup last season, freshman Carson Beck and DWan Mathis are the Bulldogs other quarterbacks. Newman announced in January he would transfer to Georgia for his final year of eligibility. In his statement, Newman thanked Smart for extending the offer for me to be a part of the University of Georgia football program.
