Netflix lands 'Knives Out' sequels in high-priced deal

Netflix said Wednesday, March 31, 2021, it has reached a deal for two sequels to Rian Johnson's acclaimed 2019 whodunit, "Knives Out." Johnson will direct with Daniel Craig returning as inspector Benoit Blanc. It also lands Netflix something it has dearly sought: the kind of major film franchises that traditional studios have long depended on. Made for $40 million, โKnives Outโ grossed $311.4 million in worldwide ticket sales and landed Johnson an Academy Award nomination for best original screenplay.

According to the Postal Service, the week from Dec. 14 through Dec. 21 is the busiest peak time for shipping and delivering packages. All of this means a heavy load for the postal service. The postal service says temporary delays are happening nationwide, largely due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The postal service says those recommendations are not guarantees, and several factors could come into play.
Director Stephen Daldry exits 'Wicked' film adaptation
The long-gestating film adaptation of the Broadway hit โWickedโ has hit another snag. Director Stephen Daldry is exiting the project, a studio representative confirmed Tuesday. The โBilly Elliotโ director has been associated with the adaptation for years, going back as far as 2012. Writer Winnie Holzman, who wrote the musical, wrote the script with โWickedโ composer and lyricist Stephen Schwartz. At one point, the film was supposed to hit theaters in Dec. 2019.
CARES nonprofit recovery grant deadline extended in St. Johns County
ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. โ St. Johns County has extended a deadline for a grant program that provides CARES Act COVID-19 relief funds to nonprofit organizations. The deadline was pushed to Sept. 25 to allow eligible nonprofit agencies more time to apply of the assistance. St. Johns County 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations may be eligible for a grant of up to $20,000, and funds may be used for expenses related to mortgage or rent, utilities, payroll, PPE equipment, facility hardening, sanitizing/cleaning supplies, and other COVID-19-related costs. New 'Hocus Pocus' movie coming from Disney+
The original "Hocus Pocus," released in 1993, stars Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy. There's reportedly a new "Hocus Pocus" movie coming. According to Deadline, the new film is in the works for forthcoming streaming service Disney+ with a script from television writer and producer Jen D'Angelo. No word yet if the original cast will be returning for the new movie or any plot details. Last month, a social media thread of some of the content that would be featured on the streaming service was the talk of Twitter.
