The humid air is thick with rounds of rain for some

Drier today in southern areas

.

Much of the day will be dry before a round of rain and storms late this afternoon, but it won’t cover everyone. Rain develops first near I-75 and inland southeast Georgia. Rain showers will cover fewer areas around Jacksonville with a later timing toward the early evening and those storms that may trigger in Duval will be very isolated. There will be even fewer storms from St. Augustine to Palatka.

The heat will top out in the upper 80s to lower 90s with partly to mostly cloudy skies.

Inland Georgia will be the one area for some severe or heavier storms this afternoon with gusty winds and small hail, and localized flooding. The storms could shift northeastward to the coastal areas of Camden and Glenn counties and last into the evening.

Less rain is anticipated this week as high pressure builds in from the northeast Tuesday through Thursday. Tomorrow most of the rain will be inland toward Highway 301 and southern Georgia. After a mid-week dry spell rain picks up Friday as a cold front moves into the area. The front heads south of us and dissipates with a drying trend over the Memorial Day weekend.
