Christmas Day travel will not be a smooth sleigh ride

The models have shifted all of the weekend rain to Christmas Day. There will be a slight chance of showers late Christmas Eve, after 10 p.m.

Above average highs, in the 70s, under partly cloudy skies Saturday. Last minute trips and travel will be easier as dry conditions continue through most of Sunday.

Rain chances will increase slightly late Sunday night and continue all day Christmas through early Tuesday morning. Scattered showers will follow the rain Tuesday and then cooler temperatures late next week.

Christmas Day: Rain chances will average around 20 percent through sunrise. After that the chances will quickly climb to 60-70 percent through the rest of the day. Locally heavy rain will be possible at times with models bringing the hight rainfall totals from Valdosta to Waycross, Georgia. Rain fall averages will be from 0.25 to 1.0 inch for NE FL, 1.0-2.0 inches for SE GA.

This system is not as strong as last weekend’s system, but some isolated storms could be strong. The rain will end earl Tuesday morning followed by scattered showers, 50 percent.

If you like it chilly for the season you will not have to wait long. Chilly temperatures return next week.
