New consumer safety report finds steady rise in fatal child drownings
CPSCs new data shows residential locations, such as a childs home, a family or friends house or a neighbors residence, made up 71 percent of the reported fatal drowning incidents. There were, on average, 379 reported pool-or-spa-related fatal drownings per year for 2015 through 2017, involving children younger than 15 years old. Our latest report confirms that most child drownings take place at home during the summer months. I urge everyone to take critical safety steps to reverse the upward trend in fatal child drownings," said CPSC Acting Chairman Robert Adler. Child drownings remain the leading cause of unintentional death among children ages 1 to 4 years old.

Florida man dies after being pulled from ocean off Crescent Beach
CRESCENT BEACH, Fla. – A 26-year-old Florida man died after he was pulled from the ocean off at Crescent Beach on Saturday, according to the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office and family. A search began and they found good Samaritans, Tracy Yuro and a fisherman, bringing Miller out of the water near the Crescent Beach ramp. “We were praying, praying, praying, praying because I saw his wife come up as we were doing it," she said. Saturday afternoon, a father and his teenage son had to be rescued from the water near the border of Atlantic Beach and Neptune Beach. Lifeguards say to keep yourself safe, check beach conditions before you go, and then when you arrive, look for the color of warning signs and flags.
