JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Volunteers with WithLove Charity on Monday dropped off toys for children with life-threatening illnesses at Wolfson Children’s Hospital, Nemours and the Ronald McDonald House. Each year for the last eight years, the nonprofit has thrown a party to go with it but couldn’t this year because of COVID-19 concerns. Still, WithLove Charity founder Taylor Scheibe, who is a cancer survivor herself, said she wanted to brighten the day of the children getting treatment. “So for me, it’s most important to make sure these kids realize that they’re still kids, they’re so loved and they’re surrounded by so much support during this hard journey.”The organization’s next event is Valentine’s Day.

Positively Jax: Donut shop owners give back to help kids fight cancer

"They came together as a team to care for children when they needed them most," said Megan Stinchcomb, with Nemours. The owners of The Mini Bar Donuts + Coffee in Jacksonville Beach hosted a fundraiser in honor of donut-loving Nemours patient Norah Sproles. While most companies would keep at least some of the proceeds from a fundraising event, the Sams donated 100%. Their community donut event raised money for the Nemours Children's Specialty Care children's cancer program.
Christmas in July event to collect toys for children in hospitals
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Jacksonville Ice and Sportsplex is keeping the spirit of Christmas alive this summer, collecting toys for Nemours and Wolfson Childrens Hospitals this Sunday. Anyone who brings a new, unwrapped toy will receive 50% off a public skating admission, which is $6 per person and includes skate rental. Jacksonville Ice is always happy to help children, said Mark Scheff, General Manager. Being hospitalized can be scary for anyone, and we hope that providing new toys to inpatient children will make their days a little brighter.Christmas in July is more than a toy drive. Miniature therapy horse spreads joy at Nemours
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Nemours Childrens Specialty Care has a new miniature therapy horse. "Buc shows that you dont have to be a shiny penny to be loved," Jennifer Pfieffer, Nurse Manager at Nemours Children's Specialty Care, said. Buc is the second miniature horse to become a miniature therapy horse through Pet Partners and is a massive hit with the patients and families at Nemours.
