While the coach is widely respected in town, there wasn’t much of a choice after the worst season in the team’s 26-year history. Marrone coached Jacksonville four full seasons and served in an interim role in 2016 for two games. The Jaguars finished 5-11 in 2018, 6-10 in 2019 and finished the 2020 season on Sunday with a 28-14 loss to the Colts. From the outset this season, it was apparent that 2020 wasn’t going to be kind to the Jaguars.

Report: Tom Coughlin injured in bike accident, suffers broken ribs
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. Former Jaguars coach Tom Coughlin was hospitalized for a night last weekend and faces a four- to six-week recovery after suffering injuries in a bike accident, according to a report from ESPN. Coughlin had four broken ribs, needed stitches in his head and suffered a slightly punctured lung, according to the report. His family convinced him to go to the hospital and be checked out and he was kept overnight. He went to the New York Giants two years later and wound up winning two Super Bowls before resigning in 2015. Coughlin returned to the Jaguars as the executive vice president of football operations in 2017.

Former Jaguar says players were encouraged not to kneel during anthem
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. As the country continues to struggle in the aftermath of the death of George Floyd, a former Jaguar said that players were encouraged not to kneel during the national anthem during his time with the team as a social injustice protests became a major topic in 2017. Thank God we had an owner of minority who weighed in and got us to kneel together! The 2017 season was dominated by the kneeling protests, including remarks by President Donald Trump that indicated NFL owners should fire players who kneeled for the anthem. In games on Sept. 24, 2017, some players kneeled and others stood during the anthem. Jaguars owner Shad Khan stood arm in arm with players Marcedes Lewis and Telvin Smith, a show of solidarity.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Celebrating 25 years in the NFL, the Jaguars Legends Community Gala showcased some of the most beloved players in team history. There were 75 former Jags in attendance, 175 former cheerleaders, local dignitaries and members from the business community. "You know, there's going to be a lot of memories and emotions for me tonight. But, you know, there's an incredible amount of memories that I have, especially real early on when we were getting started. And you know of that will come back as the night goes on."

Peyton Manning makes appearance at Jaguars camp
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - No, the Jaguars do not have a quarterback controversy. Former NFL star Peyton Manning made a surprise appearance to training camp on Thursday morning. Manning, a two-time Super Bowl winner, was a guest of Tom Coughlin and Marcus Pollard. Manning spent 18 seasons in the NFL, winning a championship with Denver in his final year in 2015.
