Pets may show an interest in or even try to eat the flowers despite the dangers. Blow out the flames: Though candles are romantic, pets can easily burn themselves or knock over candles causing fires. Keep candles in sight, make sure all candles are out of reach of pets and do not leave pets unattended around candles. Also, make sure you’re giving your pets toys and treats made for pets to ensure it’s safe.

Don’t give pets a lot of new foods at once: Foods that are new or different for your pet can cause stomach distress. Do not give pets poisonous foods: Some foods, including chocolate, onions, raisins, grapes and alcohol, are hazardous for animals. Know when and how to seek veterinary help: Should your pet get sick over Thanksgiving, ensure that you know the names and addresses of nearby emergency veterinarians. Compose a list of emergency veterinarians that will be open on Thanksgiving and keep it handy in emergency situations.

ORANGE PARK, Fla. A nonprofit veterinary clinic in Orange Park is looking for help from the public to find a mobile veterinary unit that was stolen early Sunday morning. The unit, which was purchased by Clay Humane last year with contributions from the community, was redesigned as a full-function mobile triage and treatment center, according to the nonprofit. We have been working hard during the COVID-19 pandemic to respond to an increase in veterinary issues, said Linda Welzant, executive director of Clay Humane. All the doors and windows of our mobile unit were locked, and no drugs were inside, said Welzant. If you have any information about Clay Humanes stolen mobile unit, call the Clay County Sheriffs office at 904-264-6512.

ORANGE PARK, Fla. - Veterinarians at Clay Humane are asking for help from the community after saving a Florida Brown Dog believed to have been injured in dogfighting. Staff at Clay Humane, a nonprofit veterinary clinic in Orange Park, have named the dog Bruce. Clay Animal Services found Bruce, who is about 4 years old, on the side of a road and rushed him to Clay Humane for emergency surgery. "After a successful surgery, patience and much tender loving care, Bruce has a new chance at life," Broadhurst said. Clay Humane estimates Bruce's surgery and rehabilitation has cost $3,000.
