CLAY COUNTY, Fla. โ€“ Clay County studentsโ€™ misuse of an emergency app is drawing concern, according to the school district police force. Clay County District Schools Police Chief Kenneth Wagner said that this week, several students from multiple schools, including Ridgeview Elementary, have used the Fortify Florida app to send tips that arenโ€™t an emergency. Wagner said the tips not only go out to school district police but the Clay County Sheriffโ€™s Office, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and the Florida Department of Education. He said school district police have seen success with the app over the years by tracking down school threats. And if you use the school district and you use their platforms, you, too, can be subject to school discipline,โ€ he said.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ€“ A school janitor accused of secretly recording students in the Clay High School locker room has pleaded guilty to a federal charge of attempted production of child pornography. When school administrators opened the locker they found a cell phone taped to the sidewall of the locker with the lens pointed out of a pre-fabricated hole. At the end of the video, the phone had been panned down, showing Goffโ€™s school identification badge. After Goff was arrested on Sept. 13, 2019, he admitted that he tried filming girls in the locker room at least three times from different vantage points. Goff was suspended by the Clay County School Board after his arrest, then submitted his resignation.

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. A big question on the minds of parents in Clay County is the safety of students following the election of a new sheriff and the acting school superintendent winning the Republican primary. A public feud between Clay County Sheriff Darryl Daniels, who has been plagued by scandal and was suspended five days before Tuesdays primary, and former Clay County School Superintendent Addison Davis, who left to become school superintendent in Hillsborough County, led to the creation last year of the Clay County District Schools Police Department. The school police force is led by Chief Kenneth Wagner, whos a former law enforcement officer with more than 20 years of experience. Parents reported, we dispatched 19 Clay County school police officers to search for the individual, as well as working with the Clay County sheriffs department, and were blessed that individual was found, Broskie said. The decision to keep the school police force ultimately lies in the hands of the Clay County School Board, which takes up the issue annually.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A school janitor accused of secretly recording students in the Clay High School locker room does not expect to be set free while his case works its way through the legal system. Jason Goff, 43, told a judge as much Wednesday when he was arraigned in federal court in downtown Jacksonville on a criminal complaint charging him with attempted production of child pornography. Goff, who has suspended by the Clay County School Board after his arrest, has submitted his resignation, School Board Chair Carol Studdard told News4Jax. Clay County Schools Police Chief Kenneth Wagner noted that Goff typically worked after hours and was never around children. Wagner said the case is being handled in federal court, not the Fourth Circuit, in part because of federal mandatory minimum guidelines.

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. - On Thursday, the inaugural class of officers for Clay County Schools Police will be sworn in at the district's August school board meeting. "All my roots and everything that felt like home was here in Clay County, so I came back," he said. And then, when he learned Clay County School District was forming its own police department, another dream of his came true. New Clay County school police force getting ready to take control in August

Read full article: New Clay County school police force getting ready to take control in August

FLEMING ISLAND, Fla. - As summer vacation is well underway, the Clay County School Districts new police force is getting ready to take control of the schools when classes start up again in August. The formation of the Clay County School Board Police Department has been a source of contention over the last few months, as the district found itself in a public dispute with the Clay County sheriff over who would protect the schools. No longer will there be sheriff's deputies at Clay County School Board meetings. At a school board meeting Thursday evening at Fleming Island High School, it was the district's own police officers providing security. Whether the police force would be in fact ready day one of the 2019-20 school year was a source of criticism for many in the county, with the loudest voice being Clay County Sheriff Darryl Daniels.
