Highs will sit in the mid to low 80s with partly sunny skies and a 20%-30% chance for showers. Right now the launch is a go and will take off at 7:27 p.m. You can catch the launch live on Channel 4. By Sunday evening a cold front will move in from the northwest leaving us with cooler air come Monday morning. Monday morning those across SE GA could see lows in the upper 40s and low 50s across NE FL. NASA and SpaceX will have to thread the needle to launch the SpaceX Crew-1 Sunday evening. The SpaceX launch that was supposed to take place Saturday evening was pushed back 24 hours due to strong onshore winds. The mission, called Crew-1, will launch aboard a Crew Dragon spacecraft on an 8.5-hour trip to the International Space Station. It will be the first fully-crewed SpaceX launch since the inaugural May 2020 SpaceX demonstration mission that sent astronauts Douglas Hurley and Robert Behnken to the International Space Station aboard a Crew Dragon capsule. NASA selected Boeing and SpaceX in September 2014 to transport crew to the International Space Station from the United States.

The two NASA astronauts who will climb into the Demo-2 capsule atop the SpaceX Dragon rocket for Wednesday’s historic mission are launch veterans: Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley. They will lift off from the same launchpad at the Kennedy Space Center that hoisted the crew of Apollo 11 to the moon. Behnken was an experienced Air Force test pilot when he was first selected by NASA to join the astronaut corps in 2000. He last visited space on a shuttle mission in 2010. SPECIAL SECTION: Launch AmericaThis, by the way, is the first time Behnken and Hurley have flown together.
