Parents make emotional plea for answers in 19-year-oldโs murder
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ Nearly a month after a 19-year-old man was shot and killed in Moncrief, MAD DADS is helping the family search for answers. The teenโs mother and father made an emotional plea Saturday to help find their sonโs killer during a MAD DADS walk in Washington Heights. Larry Tould's family is begging the community to come forward with the truth in his murder. AdA month later, the MAD DADS advocacy group is now going door-to-door. Brother identifies man police say was shot, killed by 14-year-old
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ A 14-year-old boy has been arrested and charged with murder in a shooting back in July on Jacksonvilleโs Westside. Police say Jivonni Sturgis was in a fight, pulled out a gun, and shot and killed a 29-year-old man. News4Jax spoke with Trevorris Horne, Rivers' brother, who said he was a good person and always willing to help. Horne said Rivers was a happy and strong young man. Jacksonville police said Sturgis shot Rivers multiple times on the night of July 24.
MAD DADS hosting voter registration drives ahead of November election
For the first time, MAD DADS (Men Against Destruction-Defending Against Drugs and Social-Disorder) is hosting a series of drives to help people get ready to cast their ballots in November. On Sunday, MAD DADS set up from noon to 4 p.m. at the Potters House Soul Food Bistro off Lenox Avenue. MAD DADS is encouraging people to use their voting power to boost turnout in the November election. We want to encourage people to participate in government, said Gary Bright with MAD DADS. Police should use some of those resources to fight mental illness, other issues that involve crime, Bright said.

MAD DADS walks Jacksonville Heights, hopes to help solve murder
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The anti-crime group, MAD DADS, gathered with Jacksonville police officers and family and friends of Daryl Austin, 24, to walk the area where he was killed and knock on doors asking residents if they know anything about his murder. Austin was shot to death on June 17, 2017, at a home on April Street near 103rd Street. A green SUV and burgundy car were seen leaving the area after the shooting, according to JSO. The SUV was found in the area of 103rd Street and Interstate 295, but no arrests have been made in Austin's murder. The group gathered to pray for justice for Daryl Austin by urging the community to help break the code of silence and to hear the pleas from his family.
