NFL draft primer: Draft party, late pick history and who the Jaguars have in mind
For just the second time in the past 15 years, the Jaguars are picking outside of the top 20 in the NFL draft. That means fans at the sold out Duuuval draft party at Daily’s Place will have to wait quite a bit longer than they’re accustomed to cheer (or jeer) Jacksonville’s draft choice.

When the NFL draft rolls around on April 27, the Jaguars will pick 24th in the first round, their latest selection since they chose Florida defensive tackle Taven Bryan 29th in 2018.

Jaguars GM on free agency mindset: ‘Push the envelope and spend to the cap’
Whether that’s in signing value players or spending on a big-ticket free agent or two shortly after 4 p.m. on March 17, don’t expect Jacksonville to sit idly by. Ad“We’re always going to look to push the envelope and spend, spend to the cap on a three-year rolling cycle, whether you’re above or below, but over a three-year period, hoping to spend to the cap,” Baalke said. Fewer teams are in position to offer rich free agent contracts, which will no doubt lead to a buyer’s market, at least in 2021. Caldwell’s free agent history was rough. Urban Meyer hopes Jaguars coaching staff is complete by next week
The new Jaguars coach is dialed in on one thing — filling out a coaching staff. “Obviously I didn’t know Trent, we met years ago, so I knew him but I didn’t know him. I’ve been very fortunate, my entire head coaching career, I’ve always looked at everything that I’ve done is a partnership. “Yeah, next week I’d like to, we’ll give a deep dive into what’s taken place because there’s been no finality to where were at as a coaching staff,” Meyer said. That’s a three-month, two-month, I think we all know there’s a couple incredible players out there, but my focus has been on the staff,” Meyer said.
