Pittman aims to make Trout River Boulevard safer
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ Trout River Boulevard is a scenic bypass to traffic on Lem Turner Road, but it can also be dangerous to drive. City Councilwoman JuโCoby Pittman, whose district covers Trout River Boulevard, said conditions on that road are unacceptable. Driving along Trout River Boulevard, itโs not hard to find curves that require drivers to slow down. โThis area the last couple of years has increased with traffic because there are new developments in this area,โ Pittman said. To improve roadway safety in the area, Pittman said a field review and analysis has already been completed.

Police said their car crashed Oct. 27 near Cole Harbor Lane. It is still unclear what led up to the deadly crash, but police said 911 was called around 8:30 a.m. Police found the car against a tree near Cole Harbor Lane. Neighbors say the road is particularly tricky to drive at night because it is narrow and often dark in stretches. If you are on Trout River Boulevard, road police ask that you slow down, and if itโs raining, use extra caution, especially along the roadโs many curves.
Man, young child killed in single-vehicle crash
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ A man and a child between 1 and 2 years old were found dead Tuesday morning after a resident on Trout River Boulevard found a car had run off the road and struck an oak tree, according to the Jacksonville Sheriffโs Office. Police called just after 8:30 a.m. found a dark-colored sedan against a tree near Cole Harbor Lane, on a curve of Trout River Boulevard west of Lem Turner Road. The victims were dead inside and traffic homicide detectives said it appears the crash had happened overnight. Police said it appears to be a single-vehicle crash and they were investigating what caused the car to go off the road.
