With the Florida Legislature finally in the swing of things, one proposed bill could have a big impact on households with a tree in their yard.

Toppled trees, downed powerlines and damaged homes are some of the impact left behind from Friday’s storms.

A large tree and power line that was knocked down due to severe weather in Northwest Jacksonville is causing issues for residents.

About 15 people are displaced and 500 are without power after a possible tornado hit Nahunta, Georgia on Saturday afternoon.

Despite the damage caused by a confirmed EF0 tornado in the Bartram Park area Tuesday afternoon, residents said they are grateful no one was injured.

Strong storms Thursday night left a trail of damage and debris across Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia. The second landed on a building, puncturing the ceiling of one classroom and leaving water damage and debris. A few doors down from that incident, a sleeping baby also had a close call when a large tree branch fell through a roof. In a Lake Geneva neighborhood in southern Clay County where five homes were reported to have received damage. Winds stripped the tar paper off the roof of the Whiskey River Saloon in Starke, leading to significant water damage to the business.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Wind gusts of 50, 60 to over 70 mph across our viewing area Thursday night took down a few trees, dozens of power lines and littered yards with limbs and other debris. Trees were blown down on a mobile home and a kindergarten in Orange Park. Several more trees and power lines in were down in Clay and Bradford counties. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 13-year-old girl had to be rescue from her bedroom after a downed tree trapped her inside. The mother says her daughter was in her bedroom when that area was crushed by a tree. She and her son had to pry open the door to get her out. It happened after 10 p.m. when a severe storm system swept the area with strong winds and heavy rains. The home located at Orange Park North Mobile Home sustained serious damage.
