Trump threatens to torpedo COVID relief with new demands
President Donald Trump late Tuesday threatened to torpedo Congress’ massive COVID-19 relief package in the midst of a raging pandemic and deep economic uncertainty, suddenly demanding changes fellow Republicans have opposed. In addition, because lawmakers linked the pandemic relief bill to an overarching funding measure, the government would shut down on Dec. 29. Lawmakers spent months in a stalemate over pandemic relief funds, even as COVID-19 cases soared across the country. Several Senate Republicans, including Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, have begun to gingerly break with Trump and acknowledge his defeat to President-elect Joe Biden, a step Trump has refused to take. Shortly after castigating the relief bill, Trump challenged McConnell and Sen. John Thune, the No.

LIVE: Joe Biden to speak as race remains too close to call
The Associated Press called Wisconsin for Biden after election officials in the state said all outstanding ballots had been counted, save for a few hundred in one township and an expected small number of provisional ballots. Statewide recounts in Wisconsin have historically changed the vote tally by only a few hundred votes; Biden leads by .624 percentage points out of nearly 3.3 million ballots counted. The victory for Biden bumps him up to 248 electoral votes, while Trump has 214. In 2016, Trump won Wisconsin by fewer than 23,000 votes, a breakthrough that along with wins in Michigan and Pennsylvania helped hand him his first term in the White House. Democrats were determined to reclaim Wisconsin, a state that before Trump hadn’t gone for a Republican since Ronald Reagan in 1984.

Duval County voters approve half-cent sales tax for schools
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Voters in Duval County said yes to a half-cent sales tax increase to raise nearly $2 billion to fund improving the city’s schools over the next 15 years. Some of the lowest-income areas of Duval County will need the highest number of that tax money. — Lenny Curry (@lennycurry) November 4, 2020Curry also thanked Duval County voters for supporting the tax, saying it’s an investment in the county’s children and their futures.
