Jaguars poised to spend big, rebuild quickly in free agency

Read full article: Jaguars poised to spend big, rebuild quickly in free agency

Free agency feels a lot like recruiting to new Jaguars coach Urban Meyer. It certainly should help that the Jaguars have more salary cap space (nearly $73 million) than any other team. (AP Photo/Jay LaPrete, File)JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Free agency feels a lot like recruiting to new Jaguars coach Urban Meyer. Clemson star Trevor Lawrence is the presumptive choice, and the Jaguars will use free agency to build around him. “That’s a room that’s going to have to be rebuilt in some ways,” said Meyer, who could sign Hunter Henry, Jonnu Smith or Gerald Everett when free agency officially begins Wednesday.

On Tuesday, Atlantic Coast and Fletcher were the last two high schools announced as the beneficiaries of full-time certified athletic trainers through the Project 17 program. It aimed to put a certified athletic trainer at every one of Duval Countys 17 public high schools by 2020. Once that was complete, those ATs would leave the Project 17 structure and transition to Duval County Public Schools employees as ATs. Currently, 12 certified ATs have gone through Project 17 and made it into the Duval system. The final five schools, Atlantic Coast, Fletcher, Mandarin, Paxon and Sandalwood, will complete Project 17 within the next two years.

Mark Brunell: Josh Allen looks like a star; offense needs more reps

Read full article: Mark Brunell: Josh Allen looks like a star; offense needs more reps

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Some thoughts from the Jaguars' Thursday night preseason game, a 22-7 loss to Miami. Thats what they are supposed to do and thats exactly what we can expect from Allen in 2019. As this preseason progresses, its hard to think of any NFL team that has a better defensive front than the Jaguars. You can expect that, once again, none of the starters will play the final preseason game. And I hope, regardless of game reps, that the Jaguars will be ready Week 1 against the Chiefs.
