JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man was hit Friday night while crossing Beach Boulevard near Southside Boulevard, and the driver failed to stop at the scene, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. Police said the hit-and-run was reported at 10:40 p.m. A witness at the scene said a westbound vehicle hit the pedestrian as he was trying to cross Beach Boulevard. Evidence found at the scene indicates the car involved may be a dark-colored Dodge, according to the Sheriff’s Office. ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. The St. Johns County Sheriffs Office is offering a $10,000 reward for tips leading to arrests in the cold case murders of two men whose remains were found in a burned SUV. The bodies of Charles Durden, 27, and Steffon Larry, 26, were found inside the torched Dodge SUV in November 2016 in St. Augustine. Mark Kapelka, the lead detective on the case, told News4Jax the case went cold weeks ago. Its very hard.After reviewing the case, Kapelka said, it became clear that some of the original anonymous tipsters likely have information vital to catching these mens killer or killers. A 25-year-old man from Lake City died early Sunday morning when he was struck by a van, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. For reasons troopers haven’t established, Eugene Farmer Jr. was in a southbound lane of U.S. 41 at S.W. High Street at 4:15 a.m. when he was struck by a Dodge van driven by a 41-year-old Lake City woman. According to the FHP report, Farmer died at the scene. The accident report said the accident is still under investigation, but no charges were expected.

BRADFORD COUNTY, Fla. - A 3-year-old boy and a woman from Starke died Sunday in a head-on collision in Bradford County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The two-car crash took place on State Road 100 at Southeast 14th Avenue around 6 a.m. Sunday. Troopers said Shelby Rosenthal, 29, and Zander Rosenthal, 3, were killed when the Ford minivan they were in crossed the centerline and crashed into a Dodge pickup truck. A 6-year-old boy in the minivan was also seriously injured in the crash, troopers said. The driver of the Dodge Ram had minor injuries from the crash.

GREEN COVE SPRINGS, Fla. - Florida Highway Patrol responded to a crash in Clay County on State Road 16 at Blanding Boulevard just after 5 a.m. Saturday. According to FHP, the driver of a Dodge Stratus attempted to make a left-hand turn onto Blanding Boulevard when a pickup truck slammed into it. The driver and passenger in the Dodge were both killed in the crash. The driver of the pickup truck suffered minor injuries. All lanes of State Road 16 are still blocked off in the area as FHP investigates.
