JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Jacksonville is one step closer to having new homes and businesses along the St. Johns River downtown. Two developers have been bidding to develop East Bay Street, where the old courthouse and City Hall annex once stood. The first bidder, Spandrel Development Partners, specializes in developing “mixed-use, multi-family, hospitality and retail projects in target cities of growth," according to its website. On Monday, members of the Downtown Investment Authority committee for development recommended that Spandrel Development Partners be given the bid for the property. If the full board agrees to have Spandrel Development Partners develop the riverfront site then the group and DIA will agree on the terms of the project.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Intuition Ale Works announced Monday it plans to expand its Downtown Jacksonville brewery on East Bay Street, adding a corner space that will double as a second taproomThe new space, which it plans to open during the week of Oct. 27, will be used on days when sporting events, concerts and festivals are scheduled in the area. The brewery permanently closed its original location in Riverside earlier in August that was first established in 2010 on King Street. Intuition's operations are now fully integrated at the facility downtown, which first opened its doors in 2016.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A report of a suspicious package on East Bay Street closed four roads around the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office headquarters Monday morning, police said. The package was reported at 501 East Bay St. -- the address of the Police Memorial Building. Marsh, East Bay, Forsyth and Liberty streets -- the four roads that surround the building -- were temporarily closed as a precaution while police investigated the suspicious package. It was deemed not to be "anything of concern" and the all-clear was given just after 9:30 a.m."Thank you everyone for your patience," JSO tweeted.
