In the world of college football, every game is a battle for supremacy. For 60 minutes, two teams clash with the hope of emerging victorious. But nearly five decades ago, Florida A&M University (FAMU) accomplished a feat that transcended the sport. The Rattlers’ 1978 NCAA Division I-AA Championship remains a historic milestone—one that has never been repeated and likely never will.

Hundreds of students had the opportunity to learn more about colleges and scholarship opportunities at the sixth annual HBCU Legacy College Fair in downtown Jacksonville.

Edward Waters University has the highest enrollment, in relation to growth, from all the HBCUs in the state of Florida.

There are bobblehead sports figures for just about every college and professional team around. Now, 13 Historically Black Colleges and Universities have their own.

The fund will be administered by the Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF).

Dr. Ivana Rich was welcomed as the new associate vice president and director of intercollegiate athletics at a press conference held at the Adams-Jenkins Community Sports and Music Complex.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held for Becoming Collegiate Academy — an HBCU-inspired elementary school — in North Jacksonville.

It’s the first time two HBCUs are playing in Jacksonville in more than a decade. Bethune-Cookman University and Jackson State University battled it out Saturday afternoon at the TIAA Bank Field.

For the first time in 16 years, Bethune-Cookman will play a football game in Jacksonville. Saturday's game will be the end of an extended road trip for the Wildcats.

TIAA Bank Field will serve as host to a big matchup in HBCU football. Bethune-Cookman will meet Deion Sanders’ Jackson State program on Oct. 15.

These items “honor the sacrifice of Black leaders of the past while amplifying and celebrating the voices of the Black community today.”

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Edward Waters College unveiled a new academic space on its campus Wednesday, the latest of several recent improvements at the school. It’s a $4.3 million facility that includes new turf, lights, seats and a video board. School leaders called it a ‘transformative investment’ in the state’s oldest historically black college. Ever since it has been educating and inspiring students in Northwest Jacksonville, but the college is working to make a new future. College leadership is in the process of launching its first graduate program to become a university.
