JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 39-year-old man wanted on a list of charges in Clay County is in custody following a high-speed chase that stretched from Florida into Georgia. Police tried unsuccessfully to halt the vehicle using a PIT maneuver on Lem Turner Road and then Smith hopped onto Interstate 95 North. AdIt wasn’t until the fourth PIT maneuver attempt — this time on I-95 in Georgia — that the chase came to a stop. CLAY COUNTY, Fla. – A fugitive who cut off his ankle monitor set up an online fundraiser to help him flee the country. Now the Clay County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help locating him. Keith Smith, 29, said he needs $2,000 because if he goes back to jail he believes he will die. It’s unclear if the website took it down or Smith removed it. If you see him, call the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.
