JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A man struck by a vehicle on South Lane Avenue at 11:40 p.m. Saturday died at a hospital and Jacksonville police are searching for the car that struck him. Police said the vehicle was headed north about two blocks south of Interstate 10 when it struck the man and the driver didn’t stop. Traffic homicide detectives are leading the investigation and will try to determine the circumstances leading up to the crash. They are trying to identify the vehicle involved and its driver. The Lane Avenue was closed in both directions while the police investigated.

Published: May 16, 2020, 6:03 am Updated: May 16, 2020, 7:05 amINTERLACHEN, Fla. – Florida Highway Patrol responded to a hit-and-run involving a pedestrian in Putnam County around 9:33 p.m. Friday night. Troopers found a pedestrian in critical condition in Interlachen, at the intersection of Fowler Street and Guy Avenue. Police believe a green Dodge Durango was traveling west on Fowler Street when it struck the pedestrian. Officers also found a passenger side-view mirror lying on the ground. If you have any information about this incident that could help investigators, call FHP at (904) 359-6572, Putnam County Sheriff’s Office at (386) 329-0800, or Crime Stoppers at (850) 329-TIPS.
