JSO makes arrest in April 2020 death of 33-year-old woman
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ The Jacksonville Sheriffโs Office on Sunday announced an arrest in the death of a woman last year. The case dates back to April 5, 2020, when police said they were called to Old Kings Road in reference to a 33-year-old woman who was found unresponsive. According to the Sheriffโs Office, the incident was initially reported as a possible drug overdose. After homicide detectives began their investigation, according to the Sheriffโs Office, they realized evidence at the scene did not match Davisโ statements. The Medical Examinerโs Office ruled the womanโs death a homicide.
Jacksonville police investigate shooting in San Jose
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ A man was wounded in a shooting Sunday in the San Jose area, according to the Jacksonville Sheriffโs Office. Officers said they responded around 4:30 p.m. to the shooting on Old Kings Road near Toledo Road. Police said a man in his early 20s was shot in the upper torso. Police said he suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment. Police said theyโre now looking for another man who was wearing all black clothing.
Man stabbed at San Jose apartments in critical condition
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ A man found with multiple stab wounds Thursday morning was hospitalized in critical condition according to the Jacksonville Sheriffโs Office. Officers were called to the Kings Trail Apartments on Old Kings Road about 8:40 a.m. The man was found in a field area of the complex with stab wounds in the upper and lower chest. โThere is no immediate danger to the public, but we ask that you remain vigilant,โ said the information released by JSO. Man dies in single vehicle crash in Northwest Jacksonville
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ A man is dead after a single-vehicle crash early Tuesday morning. It happened on Garden Street near Old Kings Road. Police havenโt released the manโs name but said his car hit a utility pole. The crash knocked out power for more than 300 people in nearby neighborhoods.
1 dead, 2 injured after Northwest Jacksonville crash
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ One man died and two people were hospitalized after a crash early Sunday morning in Northwest Jacksonville, the Jacksonville Sheriffโs Office said. All lanes of Edgewood Avenue North were closed in both directions between Shenandoah Avenue and Old Kings Road after the 2:30 a.m. crash while traffic homicide detectives investigated and until the scene could be cleared. Police said the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department treated three people at the scene and then transported them to an area hospital, where one man later died. Man's body found by CSX worker in woods on Sunday
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Jacksonville homicide detectives are investigating after the body of a white man between 50 and 70 years old was found just after 9 a.m. Sunday at Old Kings Road and St. Clair Street. Mike Silcox with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said a CSX worker found the body in a wooded area with no obvious signs of foul play. Silcox said the body had likely been there less than two or three days. He asked that anyone who may be missing a loved one matching the description of the deceased to contact JSO at 904-630-0500. The discovery and investigation into the man's death have not had an impact on any vehicle or train traffic in the area, according to Silcox.
Suspected driver in Flagler County hit-and-run crash arrested
PALM COAST, Fla. โ The Flagler County Sheriff's Office said it arrested a hit-and-run driver Saturday afternoon at Palm Coast Parkway NW and Pine Lakes Parkway. The Sheriff's Office said a 911 call came in about a crash between an SUV and a blue truck, and the truck left the scene. Deputies said they saw the blue truck on Old Kings Road, where the driver, Jonathan DeMartino, ran on foot into the woods. The Sheriff's Office said that as DeMartino ran, he was carrying what looked like new hand tools. After contacting the store, loss prevention staff confirmed items were stolen from the store just before the crash DeMartino ran from.
