The Flagler College men's basketball team reached the NCAA Division II Final Four for the first time this season. The best season in Flagler College men’s basketball history came to an end on Thursday night. The Saints never led and couldn’t slow down heavyweight Northwest Missouri State in a 77-46 loss in the NCAA Division II national semifinals. Third-seeded Flagler (18-3) had never been to the national tournament since it made the move from the NAIA to Division II in 2009. 2 in the tournament, have won Division II national championships in 2017 and ’19, and will play for their third on Saturday afternoon against top-seeded West Texas A&M.

Third-seeded Flagler will face second-seeded Northwest Missouri State in the Final Four on Thursday at 9 p.m. Jaizec Lottie had 29 points for Flagler, Derrick Ellis had 17 and Chris Metzger had 10, none bigger than his final two. Truman State’s final shot was a heavily contested look by Turner Scott that never had a chance.

The Saints’ senior guard was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches Division II All-American Team on Tuesday morning. He’s led the Saints to the NCAA Division II national championship’s elite eight for the first time. In NCAA Division II, the Saints had never been this deep into the postseason.

For the first time in school history, Flagler is going to the NCAA Division II Elite Eight after an 89-75 win over Alabama-Huntsville. Flager is 17-2 on the season and has won 15 straight games heading into the Elite Eight in Evansville. They wound up adding six games against Division I teams, including regular-season games against Florida International, Central Michigan and UNF. He had led a similar transition at Shorter College in Rome, Georgia and he knows what it would take to win at Flagler.

The Titans lead Houston 17-9 at halftime with NFL rushing leader Derrick Henry running for 113 yards and a touchdown in the first half. After winning their first 11 games for the first time in franchise history, the Steelers were upset at home two weeks ago against Washington. The last team to start 11-0 and then lose three straight was the 1969 Rams in a 14-game season. The losing skid carried over to the playoffs with a 23-20 loss to Minnesota, a fate the Steelers would obviously like to avoid. Jackson leads the way with 828 yards rushing and seven TDs with Murray having 741 yards and 11 touchdowns.

In a memo sent to the teams Monday after a conference call involving NFL and club executives, Goodell reiterated the need to adhere fully to all of the league's health and safety guidelines. “Protocol violations that result in virus spread requiring adjustments to the schedule or otherwise impacting other teams will result in additional financial and competitive discipline, including the adjustment or loss of draft choices or even the forfeit of a game,” Goodell wrote in the memo obtained by The Associated Press. Victory Monday.”The negative test results returned Sunday included New Orleans Saints fullback Michael Burton, who falsely tested positive on Saturday. The Saints learned of the positive test after leaving New Orleans for Sunday’s scheduled game in Detroit and ran another series of tests on players and staff overnight.

NEW ORLEANS Drew Brees was sharply criticized by fellow high-profile athletes, including some of his own teammates, on Wednesday after the Saints quarterback reiterated his opposition to kneeling during the national anthem. In an interview with Yahoo, Brees was asked to revisit former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick's 2016 protest of police brutality against minorities, in which Kaepernick knelt during the national anthem before games. I will never agree with anybody disrespecting the flag of the United States, Brees began, adding that the national anthem reminds him of his grandfathers, who served in the armed forces during World War II. Brees has said he supports those protesting police brutality but that he does not see the national anthem as the proper forum for that. In 2017, Brees participated with teammates who knelt before the national anthem, but then stood in unison when the anthem was played.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. Dennis Bartley played sports at Sandalwood and came back to teach and coach at the high school. Some of those former Saints would later return to the program to coach alongside Bartley, who is as well known of a Sandalwood alum as any the school has. He was a great man they just dont make them like Coach Bartley anymore, said Saints assistant coach Doug Pariseau. Current Sandalwood coach Adam Geis said that Bartley was a Saints institution. He always told me anything worth having is worth working hard for because if it is not, it doesnt exist.That type of statement was typical Bartley.

The team handed out mustaches to fans on the way into the game at TIAA Bank Field. "Go Jags, Minshew mania, it's never stopping," fans said. Others aren't letting this loss concern them and are still thrilled about the excitement Minshew brings to the team. If you've got a mustache, Minshew mania's still there," Jags fan Michael Gulla said. The next home game for the Jags will be in two weeks when they take on the New York Jets.

The Jaguars couldn't do much of anything right offensively, mustered just two field goals and struggled in a 13-6 loss to New Orleans at TIAA Bank Field. One week after getting taken apart by Carolina, the Jaguars kept New Orleans out of the end zone for more than three quarters. "I thought we did a good job of putting the quarterback [Gardner Minshew II] on the spot where we wanted them, not allowing him outside," said Saints coach Sean Payton.
