A man who was connected to a Broward County murder investigation was shot in Jacksonville by police Friday evening after they attempted to apprehend him, according to the Jacksonville Sheriffโs Office.

Surveillance video captures deadly police shooting of rifle-wielding man
The man, later identified as Justin Reed, can be seen on surveillance video approaching the SUV on the passenger side while holding the rifle. Jacksonville Sheriffโs Office Assistant Chief T.K. No police got out and said, โThis is the Sheriffโs Office.โ Nothing,โ Watson said. The surveillance video, shared with News4Jax by a nearby church, then shows Reed point the weapon at the SUV with three officers inside. The officers could be seen in the surveillance video wearing body cameras, but JSO said they did not capture the shooting.

Prosecutor: Jacksonville officer justified in 2019 deadly shooting of 22-year-old
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ A State Attorneyโs Office investigation concluded a Jacksonville sheriffโs officer was justified in shooting Jamee Johnson during a traffic stop in 2019. The State Attorneyโs Office released its investigation report on Monday afternoon, as well as body camera footage of the police-involved shooting. According to the investigation report, Johnson was pulled over for driving without a seat belt. Toward the beginning of the body camera video, Garriga asks: โWhy are you so nervous?โ Johnson responds: โIโm not. โAt the time Officer Garriga shot Johnson, he had a reasonable belief, under Florida law, that Johnson posed a deadly threat to him and his fellow officer,โ the investigation report said.
JSO: Man reaching for gun after standoff killed when 6 officers fired weapons
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ A man died early Monday morning after officers called to a domestic disturbance on Voltaire Court shot him outside a home in the Fort Caroline area, according to the Jacksonville Sheriffโs Office. JSO said six officers fired their weapons at Filipe Pereira when he reached into his back pocket, where he had a gun (pictured below). Itโs unclear how many of the officers hit Pereira or how many shots were fired. The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said Felipe Pereira was reaching for this gun in his back pocket when he was shot by six officers during a standoff in Fort Caroline. JSO: Reckless driver, passengers outrun undercover detectives
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ In Jacksonvilleโs third officer-involved shooting in a week, a driver and passengers are on the run after a brief police chase, the Jacksonville Sheriffโs Office said. It ended quickly, however, when the driver pulled into a dead-end at Claudia Spencer Street. The driver accelerated the vehicle, driving toward the officers, and two of the officers fired shots at the vehicle, according to JSO. JSO said it was too dark during the incident for the detectives to provide a suspect description of the driver or an estimate of how many passengers were in the car.

JSO: Armed man shot, killed by officer after SWAT standoff in Arlington
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ An armed man was fatally shot by an officer Thursday after trespassing at an Arlington home and barricading himself inside, according to the Jacksonville Sheriffโs Office. Sheriffโs Office Chief of Investigations T.K. A few moments later, according to Waters, the man came back outside, pointed his firearm toward an officer and thatโs when the officer fired one shot, striking the man. The 12-year veteran of the Sheriffโs Office was placed on administrative leave, which is JSO policy. The Sheriffโs Office on Monday identified the man who was fatally shot as 39-year-old Dorgel Cisnero-Mesa.
