Deputies: 'Block partyโ in Hawthorne ends in shooting
HAWTHORNE, Fla. โ The Alachua County Sheriffโs Office is investigating a shooting that sent two people to the hospital. The Sheriffโs Office was called about 11 p.m. Saturday to the area of 225th Way in Hawthorne in regards to a noise complaint. Deputies arrived on scene to find a โblock party-style celebration" occurring with several hundred people in the area. At 12:25 a.m. Sunday, deputies reported hearing multiple gunshots and located one adult male with a gunshot wound to the neck. Additional deputies responded to secure the area and eventually the SWAT team responded to assist with securing the crime scene and searching for other wounded victims.
Putnam County deputies: Man shot, killed while answering his front door
PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. โ A man was fatally shot Sunday morning while answering the front door of his home in the Hawthorne area, the Putnam County Sheriffโs Office said. Deputies said they found the man, identified as Barrington Scott Carey, dead inside his home on State Road 20 early Sunday morning. According to the Sheriffโs Office, a witness told deputies before 3 a.m. there was a knock at the door, and Carey walked to the front and opened the door. The witness told deputies she heard two shots, ran to the door and saw Carey on the ground. Although no one was in custody as of Monday, detectives said they believe this was an isolated incident.
FHP: Man arrested in Alachua County hit-and-run crash that killed teen
ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. - A man was arrested just over a week after a teenage girl was killed and another was critically injured in a hit-and-run crash in Alachua County, the Florida Highway Patrol said. Also on Thursday night, according to troopers, the white 1996 Ford F-250 pickup truck involved in the crash was located in Gainesville. The crash happened about 9 p.m. Oct. 16 on County Road 364 at Southeast 58th Terrace in Micanopy, just south of Gainesville. Brothers shot, 1 killed in shooting outside Putnam County home
Putnam County Sheriff's OfficeHAWTHORNE, Fla. - Detectives with the Putnam County Sheriff's Office are investigating after two brothers were found shot at a home in Hawthorne, and one of the brothers died from his injuries. According to the Sheriff's Office, deputies were sent to a home on Thistle Trail early Saturday morning. Darius Gilmore, 20, of Hawthorne, was shot in both of his legs, the Sheriff's Office said. On Monday evening, the Sheriff's Office said Rayquan Frison, 18, surrended at the jail. According to the Sheriff's Office, he faces murder and attempted murder charges.
Putnam County deputies search for whoever shot, killed man
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Putnam County Sheriff's Office needs help from the community to find a shooter who killed a man in Hawthorne. Detectives said Lanoris Gilmore was shot at a home at 125 Thistle Lane residence in Hawthorne. Gilmore was taken by ambulance to Putnam Community Medical Center where he later died from his wounds. Witnesses said the shooter may have driven away from the area in a gray Malibu, possibly a newer model like the one shown.
