JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ€“ A man who crashed into a median while driving in the wrong direction on Beach Boulevard near San Pablo Road early Saturday morning has died, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Around 1:40 a.m., a 38-year-old man was driving east in the westbound lanes when he lost control and slammed into a tree located in the median. When News4Jax crews arrived, the sedan was sitting on a tow truck, mangled with shattered windows. Troopers said the driver was not wearing a seatbelt. The crash was cleared and all lanes have reopened.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla โ€“ Three cars were heading east on Butler Boulevard when one of them was hit and lost control. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, one of the cars, a red Lexus coupe, hit a gray Ford pickup while trying to pass it. The Lexus lost control and overturned multiple times. The BMW also lost control causing it to drive across three lanes of traffic before hitting a concrete barrier. Luckily, the driver of the Ford pickup managed to pull over into the emergency lane safely.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. Five days after a woman stabbed to death inside a San Pablo Road apartment, Jacksonville police have charged a man taken from the scene to the hospital with injuries with murder. People at the Coquina Bay Apartments who heard the woman screaming called the Jacksonville Sheriffs Office just after 5 p.m. Saturday. Officers said they forced their way into the apartment and found both the man and woman suffering from stab wounds. The woman, who police will not identify, died at the scene. Nabil Abdel-Majid, 49, who police have now charged with second-degree murder, was taken to a local hospital.

According to JEA, crews were called to repair the 24-inch water main break caused by a contractor at San Pablo Parkway and San Pablo Road, just south of Beach Boulevard. As of about 2:15 p.m., both southbound lanes and the inside northbound lane of San Pablo Parkway were closed in the area of the water main break, JEA said. The Florida Highway Department of Transportation said contractors are on schedule to complete the Northeast Florida-regions first diverging diamond interchange in Spring 2022. Diverging diamond roads have been used in France since the 1970s, but the use of the pattern exploded in recent decades. The diverging diamond interchange was listed by Popular Science magazine as one of the best innovations in 2009 in the engineering category. The intersection at J. Turner Butler Boulevard and San Pablo Road sees 150,000 vehicles travel through it every day, according to FDOT estimates. In another district, FDOT is also constructing diverging diamond interchanges at Interstate 95 and State Road A1A (State Road 200) in Nassau County, First Coast Expressway and Henley Road in Clay County, and First Coast Expressway, and State Road 16 in Clay County.
