The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said on Thursday that it has arrested the second of two suspects accused of fatally shooting a man on Christmas Eve.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A young woman was shot Monday in the Lakewood neighborhood, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. Officers said they responded around 5 p.m. to Stetson Road, off St. Augustine Road, and found the young woman with a gunshot wound to the torso. Police said she was taken to an area hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Investigators said they are looking for three men in an older model tan or off-white van. Detectives said the shooter was wearing a black face covering, white shirt, black pants and white shoes.

Davidson Street is one of several streets without stop signs that run east and west between Hendricks Avenue and St. Augustine Road. Only side streets that run parallel to Hendricks Avenue and St. Augustine Road have stop signs. But Sabatier questions whether stop signs will be enough. It’s an example of why some residents believe stop signs may not totally solve the problem. “Stop signs, people don’t really pay attention to that often, and it’s not like a cop can sit here for an entire day and get people," DeFullers said.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office on Monday announced two more arrests in the death of a bicyclist who was fatally shot in January 2019. According to the Sheriff’s Office, it resulted in the death of Damon Rothermel, 50, who appeared to have been hit by a stray slug from a shootout between people in two cars. On Monday, the Sheriff’s Office announced Derek Hudson, 20, and Christopher Brown, 26, were arrested and charged with second-degree murder. Last Friday, News4Jax learned Dominique Barner was arrested on a charge of second-degree murder in the shooting. Janera Smith, 22, was arrested on a charge of accessory after the fact, an arrest report shows.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Five days after April Robinson, 54, was killed after being hit by a car on St. Augustine Road, her family and friends held a vigil in her honor near the spot where she was hit. Nearly 200 people walked across St. Augustine Road to pay tribute to Robinson. Many of them gathered at her home on Brewster Street and walked one block to St. Augustine Road. They said that was the same route Robinson walked every day to catch the bus to go to work. Police said last Monday morning, Robinson was hit by a car on St. Augustine Road and taken to a hospital in critical condition.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A woman suffered serious injuries Monday morning when she was struck by a car in Jacksonville's Pine Forest neighborhood near the Lakewood area, authorities said. The collision happened shortly before 7 a.m. when the middle-aged woman was hit by a sedan heading south on St. Augustine Road near Brewster Road, according to police. Police said the woman, who was identified by family members as 54-year-old April Robinson (pictured), was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries. Her brother and daughter told News4Jax that she suffered a serious brain injury and they are holding out hope that she can pull through. Police said the driver, who stayed at the scene, was cooperative with the crash investigation.
