JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ The Salvation Army of Jacksonville is making its own produce to feed residents and others in the community. โWe are also growing kale, cilantro, oregano,โ said Tami Gonyea, The Salvation of Army of Jacksonville Director of Social Services. These are just a few of the items the Salvation Army of Jacksonville is growing in its garden towers. AdThe Salvation Army Tower Gardens grow a variety of lettuces, kale, spinach, microgreens, and herbs in an indoor environment. To reach this goal, the Salvation Army is collecting donations.
Bundle of Hope: The Salvation Army of Northeast Florida launches new program for expecting mothers
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ The Salvation Army of Northeast Florida launched a new program granting a safe space for expecting mothers. In January, the non-profit opened up a โBundle of Hope Roomโ in downtown Jacksonville. The space is meant to provide a safe haven for up to two pregnant women at any one time. The room is furnished to help make pregnant moms as comfortable as possible leading up to the birth of their child. Reid was born in a Salvation Army Home in Kansas City.

Salvation Army distributes Thanksgiving food to 1K families
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ Tuesday morning, the Salvation Army gave 1,000 families everything they need to prepare Thanksgiving dinner. From this, Jones donated 852 turkeys to the Jacksonville Salvation Army. The Salvation Army is adopting nationally mandated safety protocols for physical kettles to help ensure the safety of bell ringers, donors, and partners. Walmart will offer customers the option to round up their purchases to the nearest dollar and donate the difference to The Salvation Army.

Walmart & Salvation Army launch Stuff the Bus campaign

Through this Aug. 7-9 drive, shoppers can buy school supplies while shopping at Walmart and then drop them off in Salvation Army collection bins posted at the front of each store. Maj. Keath Biggers, Northeast Florida Area Commander for The Salvation Army, issued a statement saying this campaign will help families hit hard financially by the coronavirus pandemic. Monetary donations can also be made to The Salvation Army. All donations made at the Jacksonville Stuff the Bus campaign event will stay within the local community to help families return to school with the supplies they need.
โAngel Treeโ toy giveaway happening Tuesday
JACKSONVILLE, Fla โ More than 2,500 children, who otherwise would not have Christmas presents, will receive gifts this year thanks to the Salvation Army in Jacksonville Angel Tree program. The children in the Angel Tree program are ages 0-12 and are from families who applied for holiday assistance with The Salvation Army in October and demonstrated financial hardship. Individuals, businesses and church groups โadoptedโ the children by picking up Angel Tree tags from trees at the Avenues Mall, Ashley Homestores and Sonnyโs BBQ across the area. I can only imagine what the childrenโsโ faces are going to be like when they see their presents on Christmas Day,โ Area Commander Keath Biggers said. The Salvation Army in Jacksonville Angel Tree gift distribution will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Regency Square Mall at 9501 Arlington Expressway.
The Salvation Army holding back to school drive for local kids
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Salvation Army is asking local businesses, churches, groups and individuals to donate school supplies for local kids in need. Resources will go towards helping local families who are struggling to afford what they need for school. Anyone who is interested in hosting a school supplies collection at their place of business or church is asked to call 904-301-4785 to sign up. Families must bring proof of Duval residency, childs most recent report card (to show current grade level), and proof of income. The Salvation Army will distribute the supplies to families who demonstrate financial need on Aug. 8.
