Beaches Go Green-Positively Jax Community Clean-Up | River City Live
To celebrate the upcoming Beaches Go Green - Positively Jax Community Clean-Up, Eden Kendall visited with the Nease High School Beaches Go Green Club. The officers of the club were very excited because they were about to receive hundreds of water bottles that the club had sponsored to be included as part of the school sports teamsโ uniforms.

Beaches Go Green provides awareness and education around the waste that we produce and how it affects our planet โ particularly single-use items and plastic pollution in our oceans. We aim to simplify complex environmental issues so that everyone can make sense of them and make changes in their own lives for the better of the planet.

Plastic octopus to continue to spread environmental awareness at new home
JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. โ It graced Jacksonville Beachโs Seawalk Pavilion since November, but now the famous octopus made of single-use plastic will be moving to its new home at the Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens, where itโll continue to spread awareness about the environment. Piece by piece and strand by strand, volunteers from Beaches Go Green broke down the areaโs most visible artificial sea creature on Sunday. โBut the breakdown and the setup are always a big undertaking.โThe gigantic cephalopod is not only made up of tens of thousands of single-use plastic bottles, but itโs also responsible for more than 1,000 volunteer hours. Now, itโll soon be on its way to the Jacksonville zoo. Once the octopus is taken to the Jacksonville zoo, itโll be stored a period of time before a master plan on how itโll be displayed is created.
