Pedestrian killed by pickup truck that struck vehicles on I-295
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A 48-year-old died early Thursday morning after a pickup truck sideswiped two vehicles that had stopped on Interstate 295 southbound near Main Street after a rear-end collision, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Troopers said another pickup truck then struck the first two disabled vehicles and a pedestrian, who died at the scene. City Council announces new social justice committee in meeting with city leaders
During a special Jacksonville City Council meeting on Wednesday morning, members heard from the Jacksonville Sheriff, the State Attorney and the mayor about what is ahead. Also in that meeting, a new City Council social justice committee was announced. The Committee for Social Justice will be a clearinghouse to sort though the legislation expected to be filed to bring about change and equality for all. Those unfulfilled promises include a lack of sewer service and other infrastructure neglect in the core city of Jacksonville. In fact, City Council is now talking about something they’ve been avoiding for years — a tax increase to keep the promises.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A cyclist was struck by a vehicle around 11:30 p.m. Friday night. Jacksonville Sheriff's officers said the bike rider suffered life-threatening injuries after being struck near the intersection of Fairfax St. and 1500 block. A JSO officer says he was responding to an unrelated crash around 11:30 p.m. when he witnessed a vehicle traveling southbound in the 1500 block of Fairfax St., turn East onto West 4th St. The cyclist was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. The cyclist was found at fault for the crash.

Roads in the neighborhood surrounding a home on Allandale Circle East were closed off by police officers during the raid. Neighbors said they have been concerned about suspected drug dealing going on at the house. People coming in and one time, my wife and I saw someone swap (something) right in front of us.
