Driver dies as Jeep hits tree, returns to U.S. 1 in Flagler County
FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. โ A Jeep SUV headed north on U.S. 1 in Flagler County, north of Royal Palms Parkway early Saturday morning ran off the road into the median and collided with a tree. The Jeep ended up back on the northbound lanes of U.S. 1, where it came to a final stop in an intersection. The 61-year-old driver from Deland died in the single-vehicle crash at 12:32 a.m. Troopers said he was not wearing a seatbelt. The crash remains under investigation.
FHP: Driver killed after losing control, overturning Jeep in Mandarin
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A 34-year-old man was killed Sunday night in a crash on I-295 in Mandarin. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Thomas Clarke was traveling down I-295 northbound near Old St. Augustine Road when he lost control of his Jeep Grand Cherokee around 9:38 p.m. Troopers said his Jeep crossed over the express lanes dividers and crashed into a Chevrolet Camaro before overturning several times. Clarke was transported to Orange Park Medical Center where investigators said he later died. The woman in the Camaro was taken to Baptist Health South with minor injuries.
Owner of Jeep abandoned on Myrtle Beach explains how it got there
CNN video(CNN) - The owner of the Jeep abandoned on Myrtle Beach during Hurricane Dorian will probably think twice before giving someone his car keys. It turns out the SUV's owner had lent it to his cousin so that guy wouldn't have to ride his motorcycle in the bad weather, the owner told CNN affiliate WMBF. So, the owner's cousin "got on the beach and started driving it," the owner told WMBF. Then I called (my cousin) and spoke to him and he told me exactly what happened," the Jeep's owner told the station. Workers used a backhoe loader Friday morning to tow the Jeep away, video posted by Myrtle Beach police shows.
Man accused of running over Fernandina beach sunbather jailed
FERNANDINA BEACH, Fla. โ Hours after a woman sunbathing on a Nassau County beach was run over Tuesday afternoon, police arrested the man they believe was driving the Jeep that hit her and kept going. According to the Fernandina Beach Police Department, a 53-year-old Akron, Ohio, woman was run over by a silver Jeep Cherokee. Police said the driver of the Jeep took off despite being told by a witness that he had run over a sunbather. It was the second time a sunbather was run over by a vehicle in Nassau County. As proven by the attached warning, the City of Fernandina and Nassau County has done nothing despite repeated notice of a dangerous condition."
Teen dies when tire blows out on I-75
ALACHUA COUNTY, Fla. โ A 19-year-old woman was killed in a crash on Interstate 75 in Alachua County on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Chelsea Morgan, of Jasper, was traveling north in the center lane when the right rear tire of her Jeep Liberty blew out, causing her to lose control, state troopers said. The Jeep left the wet roadway and spun onto the east grass shoulder at mile marker 388 at about 3:30 p.m., troopers said. It traveled through a ditch and struck a tree line with its front, then hit a second tree on the driver's side door. Troopers said Morgan was not wearing a seat belt, and Asbury was wearing one.
