Barrett, Gronkowski agree to deals to stay with Buccaneers
Linebacker Shaquil Barrett and tight end Rob Gronkowski, who came out of retirement 11 months ago to help Brady win No. 7 in his first season with the Bucs, are the latest players to agree to terms to stay with the team. Agent Drew Rosenhaus represents both players and confirmed the deals to The Associated Press on Monday. He signed a one-year, $4 million deal with Tampa Bay in free agency in 2019 and has 27ยฝ sacks in 31 regular-season games since joining the Bucs. Gronkowski played nine seasons with Brady in New England before retiring after the 2018 season.

Bucs hope to keep core together to chase another Super Bowl
The Buccaneers defeated the Chiefs 31-9 to win the Super Bowl. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are already thinking about what itโll take to repeat as Super Bowl champions. If Brady, Arians and general manager Jason Licht have their way, Gronkowski, Brown and Fournette wonโt wind up being one-season rentals. โHopefully we can keep the band together, have an offseason and actually know what weโre doing (entering next season),โ Arians said. Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady shouts after running on to the field before the NFL Super Bowl 55 football game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday. New normal: Brady gets 7th trophy in a season to remember
History was made, just as it always is, on a picture-perfect Sunday evening at the Super Bowl. Brady adding to his record with a seventh Super Bowl title, but with the long-suffering Bucs, not the front-running New England Patriots? That the Chiefs waded through all that to make it back to the Super Bowl was not all that big a surprise. Brady earned his fifth Super Bowl MVP award. It was, as much as anything, a nod to the new normal โ life with coronavirus โ meshing with the old normal โ Tom Brady holding a Super Bowl trophy.

Brady wound up with his seventh NFL championship and was the Super Bowl MVP for the fifth time. โAll week he made us believe we were going to win,โ Fournette said. โHe was amazing and just did it all: blocked, ran, just had an incredible season,โ Brady said. Brady's seventh Super Bowl triumph broke a tie he held with three members of Vince Lombardi's great Green Bay Packers teams of the 1960s for most NFL championships. "There's nothing that he can't do: new team, new scheme, first year with a new team and going to the Super Bowl and winning it all.

Fournette, Bell go from lots of losing to Super Bowl
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back doesn't remember writing the prophetic Twitter post seven years ago, but someone unearthed it last week and sent social media buzzing. โCanโt wait til I play in that Super Bowl,โ Fournette wrote on Feb. 2, 2014 โ punctuating it with a grin emoji. Super Bowl could be farewell for several pending free agents
Kansas City and Tampa Bay have several starters, including some notable pass catchers, scheduled to become free agents next month. So the Super Bowl between the Chiefs and Buccaneers will serve as a farewell for several players with their current team. Brown signed a one-year, $1.6 million contract with Tampa in late October and has been a model citizen since. He has 45 receptions for 623 yards and seven touchdowns after signing a one-year, $9 million deal. He turned 34 last month and might be willing to sign another one-year deal to stay in Tampa.

NFC Matchups: Where else to start but Brady and Rodgers?
But Gronk in particular has always been a big-play guy in big games for Brady, and Green Bay doesn't have linebackers who excel in coverage. Green Bay will do some blitzing, though not as much as Buccaneers defensive coordinator Todd Bowles figures to do. Unlike Brady, Rodgers can create outside the pocket, and he's especially dangerous when doing so. Veteran placekicker Mason Crosby is solid, making all 16 field goal attempts, but missed four PATs for Green Bay. Tampa Bay's Ryan Succop, now in his 12th pro season, made 28 of 31 field goal tries but missed five extra points.

Bucs, Browns, Bills out to follow footsteps of champ Chiefs
Aside from winning the final Super Bowl before the merger in 1970, the Kansas City Chiefsโ biggest claim to fame for over half a century was team founder Lamar Hunt coining the phrase Super Bowl. Three long-downtrodden teams โ the Browns, Bills and Buccaneers โ have made it to the divisional round this weekend and are certain they have as good a chance as the Chiefs, Packers, Saints, Ravens or Rams of winning Super Bowl 55. Thatโs heady stuff for a franchise that has never made it to the Super Bowl. I think Bills fans, including myself, didnโt think he was going to be this good this good this early. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ In what could be his final two months on the job, Jacksonville Jaguars coach Doug Marrone is making changes. Leonard Fournette intends to join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who are stockpiling playmakers to help Tom Brady be successful with his new team. The former Jacksonville Jaguars running back tweeted an image of himself carrying a football and wearing a Bucs jersey and helmet long with a pen-signing emoji and the message #GoBucs on Wednesday night. Fournette, the former LSU star drafted fourth overall in 2017, was released Monday by the Jaguars and became a free agent after clearing waivers.

Former Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette headed to Buccaneers
Leonard Fournette is headed to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after reaching an agreement in principle with the team on Wednesday night. Fournette went from arguably the NFLs worst team to perhaps a Super Bowl contender in the matter of three days. #Bucs are giving RB Leonard Fournette a 1-year deal worth a max value of $3.5M, source said. Plus, with no off-sets from his #Jaguars deal, Fournette can double dip if he wins his grievance & add $4.2M. Jacksonville drafted Fournette fourth overall in 2017 in front of a slew of players who turned out to be stars and wound up getting nothing in return for him.

Jaguars continue to clean house, deal safety Harrison to Browns
Four days after trading running back Leonard Fournette, Jacksonville shipped off safety Ronnie Harrison to the Cleveland Browns. Harrison was a third-round pick in 2018. In return, the Jaguars will receive a fifth-round draft pick in 2021. Harrison was projected as the starting strong safety this season. Harrison started 14 games last season for Jacksonville and had 71 total tackles and a pair of interceptions.

Stars line up for a chance to play with Brady-led Buccaneers
Leonard Fournette is the latest high-profile addition to an already potent offense bolstered by Brady luring his favorite target, Rob Gronkowski, out of retirement. A talented collection of playmakers, including Pro Bowl receivers Mike Evans and Chris Godwin and highly regarded tight ends O.J. Howard and Cameron Brate, are part of what made Tampa Bay an attractive landing spot for Brady in free agency. Now, all coach Bruce Arians has to figure out is how all the components fit. ... Its just fantastic, the commitment theyve shown, Arians, entering his second season in Tampa Bay, said Thursday.

With Leonard Fournette gone, who steps up at RB for Jaguars?
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. No more Leonard Fournette means that quite a few players that Jaguars fans likely arent too familiar with are in line to replace him. A veteran, two second-year players and a pair of undrafted free agents are the players who are vying to replace Fournette. Chris is a blessing and Im happy as [heck] that hes here, said Jaguars running backs coach Terry Robiskie. The Jaguars picked him up after training camp last season. Now in his first training camp with the Jaguars, Ozigbo has gotten a chance to showcase his skills in Jay Grudens offense.

Former Jaguars RB Fournette clears waivers, now a free agent
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. Leonard Fournette is now a free agent. He also reported that Fournette has filed a grievance against the Jaguars for voiding the guarantees in his contract. Jacksonville wouldnt have to pay that if that is upheld, but would have to pay it should Fournette win that. With Fournettes release, Ryquell Armstead, Nathan Cottrell, Devine Ozigbo, James Robinson and Chris Thompson are the running backs on the Jaguars roster. Jaguars running backs coach Terry Robiskie said on Tuesday that those players benefited from having Fournette in the mix.

Brunell calls Jaguars decision to cut Fournette a stunner
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. If theres anyone at News4Jax who could make sense of the Jaguars abrupt decision to cut running back Leonard Fournette two weeks before the season, its Mark Brunell. But even the former quarterback turned News4Jax Jaguars analyst was scratching his head on Monday. This is a stunner to me, Brunell said in a phone interview on The Morning Show. Leonard Fournette, say what you want, he came into camp healthy. We just cant seem to keep our young players, Bruce, Brunell told News4Jax anchor Bruce Hamilton.

As Jaguars roster purge continues, the plan going forward is difficult to see
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. Since the end of the 2019 season, the Jaguars have traded Calais Campbell, A.J. Fournette was the first draft pick by Tom Coughlin after he rejoined the franchise as the executive vice president of football operations. In 2019, Fournette scored three touchdowns. Since the end of the season, the Jaguars have cleared more than $76 million in salary cap space. Going into the [2019] season, I think that was always the plan.

Leonard Fournette tunes out the distractions: My job is to play football
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. Trade rumors flew in the offseason and Leonard Fournette did his best to not stress about them. The fourth-year Jaguars running back said that hes approaching this season with one goal playing football. It may very well be his final season in Jacksonville, but Fournette isnt talking about next year. Whether or not that future includes Fournette or another reset at the position isnt the conversation right now. Fournette rushed for 1,152 yards and had 522 yards receiving, both career highs.

Breaking with tradition, NASCAR bans Confederate flag at events
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ The Confederate flag, a prominent sight at NASCAR races for decades, is no longer welcome. โThe presence of the confederate flag at NASCAR events runs contrary to our commitment to providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for all fans, our competitors and our industry. The display of the confederate flag will be prohibited from all NASCAR events and properties,โ NASCAR said in a statement. The Confederate flag was as attached to NASCAR more than anywhere else in the world of sports. This week, Bubba Wallace, the sportโs lone black driver, told CNN that he thought the sport should rid tracks of the Confederate flag.

Mayor Curry, Sheriff Williams walk with community, promise change
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. Mayor Lenny Curry told hundreds gathered Tuesday morning to march with Jaguars running back Leonard Fournette from Jacksonville City Hall to the Duval County Courthouse that he was listening to their voices. "Were not going to agree on everything -- thats just not human history, human nature. Weve got to find common ground.Jacksonville Sheriff Mike Williams and many of his officers joined the short walk to the Courthouse. Curry said he felt he would be a distraction for law enforcement and could put others in danger if he marched this weekend. There are times where I put law enforcement resources at risk because they have to focus on me if Im there which isnt responsible, Curry said.

Jaguars RB Fournette plans to hold peaceful protest next week
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. Leonard Fournette is joining the public protests for social change in the country. The Jaguars running back said on social media that he planned to lead a peaceful protest in town next week to show support for change in America. It is the most public gesture yet by a current Jaguars player to support African Americans during a significant time in U.S. history. Arbery was killed by the son of a former law enforcement officer while running in a neighborhood. Floyd was killed by a police officer, who had his knee pressed into Floyds neck for nearly nine minutes.

Jaguars adjust clocks with Coughlin gone, stump for Marrone

Jaguars fall flat against Colts
The return of Nick Foles was supposed to be the launching point to the second half of the season. Instead, it put a stamp on just how much work lies in front for the Jaguars to become a competitive NFL team. The Jaguars (4-6) needed to close the season out strong to have a shot to reach the playoffs. The pair of 100-yard rushers marked the first time that the Colts had done that in franchise history. Brissett added a 5-yayrd rushing touchdown A 48-yard run by Williams on the following drive set up a Nyheim Hines 7-yard touchdown run and the blowout was on.

What we've learned about the Jaguars and what comes next
Here are 10 things that Ive learned about the Jaguars through the first nine weeks of the season. If there is one position group that needed a major emergence this season, it was the wide receivers. Will the Jaguars play two regular season home games in London next season. Conveniently, the Jaguars will play four games against those five teams in the final seven weeks of the season. In other words, the Jaguars can play a big role in determining their playoff chances.

Jaguars-Jets: Four keys for a Jacksonville win on Sunday
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jaguars host the Jets on Sunday in a game that, on paper, should be fairly one-sided. Here are my four keys for the Jaguars to beat the Jets:1. Don't turn the ball over, don't commit unreasonable penalties, and don't give the game away. Run, run, then run some more. Jack had to instruct safety Jarrod Wilson last week when Wilson was pressed into service as a linebacker.

Mark Brunell: Victory over Bengals felt like a true team win
If you want to be a playoff team, you have got to win the games that you're supposed to. And Sunday's 27-17 victory over the winless Bengals qualifies as one of those games that you're supposed to win. You're down by a point in the fourth quarter to a team that hasn't won a game all season. The turnovers forced by the Jaguars defense were the story of the game. The Jaguars put Minshew in a position where all he needed to do was not turn it over and he didn't.

Four takeaways: Jaguars should keep leaning on Fournette
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jaguars went to Cincinnati and forced four turnovers in a 27-17 win over the winless Bengals. Until Gardner Minshew or Nick Foles shows they are ready to carry the team through the air, the Jaguars need to ride Leonard Fournette. Against the Bengals, the worst rushing defense in the league, Fournette posted his third 100-plus yard rushing games in the last four weeks. The Jaguars struggled in the first half up front but improved in the second half. The Jaguars failed to convert on a fourth-and-goal situation from the 1-yard line in the first half.

Jaguars at Bengals: Four keys to victory in Cincinnati
JACKSONVILLE, FLA - The Jaguars travel to Cincinnati to face the winless Bengals on Sunday. Although this is just Week 7, the Jaguars face a tremendously important game if they want to return to playoff contention. If the Bengals try the same approach, Minshew needs to be able to make plays downfield from the pocket. The Bengals are anything but potent and there isn't a matchup with a wide receiver that should scare the Jaguars this week. Leonard Fournette was not happy that the Jaguars traded Ramey.

Minshew-mania could reignite vs winless Bengals
The rookie with the distinctive 'stache has a chance to re-ignite it against one of the NFL's two winless teams. Quarterbacks tend to have big games against these winless Bengals. BENGALS CORNERBACKSDre Kirkpatrick and William Jackson III are expected to miss the game with injuries, leaving the Bengals in a tough spot at cornerback. RUN THE BALLNot only have the Bengals been unable to stop the run, they haven't had much of a running game themselves. Joe Mixon will be going against a Jaguars run defense that ranks only 25th in the league.

Jaguars players say Ramsey saga wasn't distraction
Jaguars cornerback Tre Herndon (37) will be the starting cornerback for the fourth straight game, and for the foreseeable future after the Jaguars traded Jalen Ramsey on Tuesday. (photo by George Varkanis)JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jaguars' fan base may be feeling a sense of relief that the Jalen Ramsey saga has ended, but inside the locker room, players said it was never a distraction. Starting free safety Jerrod Wilson also said the Ramsey saga wasn't a distraction for the team and that he didn't think there would be much of a change since the same quartet, A.J. "(Ramsey) wasn't really a distraction," Wilson said. "Were still going to be our single safety, just kind of like weve been the last couple of weeks, three weeks, without Jalen [Ramsey].

Mark Brunell: Turnovers overshadow offensive highlights
He had eight receptions for 164 yards and two touchdowns and his ability to catch, and hang on to passes, is getting better by the game. When you look at that production from those three main offensive weapons, that's a highly productive day. There is only one statistic that really matters in an NFL game and thats the number of turnovers a team either gets or gives. Our young quarterback is truly a competitor, and hes only going to get better. Remember, this is only the fourth start in his NFL career, and with each game, hes learning how to play at this level.

Four takeaways: Fournette in a groove; Norwell has to step up
The Jaguars had a 100-yard rusher (Leonard Fournette) and a 300-yard passer (Gardner Minshew), but they couldn't stop the Carolina running game. Each player in the NFL is judged against the amount of the salary cap that they take up. That's 8.5% of the entire salary cap this year. His contract is the biggest chunk of the salary cap this year for the Jaguars. Late in the game, Fournette came out of the game for a few plays.

MONDAY HUDDLE: Is Bucs win at LA sign of things to come?
Win that to go 3-2, and there might be some legitimate playoff hope brewing in Tampa. What were Fournette, Robinson arguing about? Following a game at South Carolina comes a bye week and then the annual contest in Jacksonville against No. 1 overall pick in next years NFL Draft and the likely prize that will go with it, Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. Next up for Florida State following a 31-13 win over N.C. State is a bye week and then a game at No.

Fans react to Jaguars win in Denver
There was a lot of excitement at bars and restaurants following the Jaguars' 26-24 win at Denver on Sunday, proceeded by some serious concern. For anyone doubted that Jaguars QB Gardner Minshew was the real deal, he showed convinced skeptics with just one play in the Jaguars comeback win over the Denver Broncos on Sunday. With the Jaguars trailing by 11 points in the third quarter and, Minshew dropped back to pass. Leonard Fournette did most of his damage in the second half, running for a career-high 225 yards. Minshew marched the team down the field and Josh Lambo was able to drill a field goal as time ran out, giving the Jaguars a 26-24 win.

Fournette, Minshew lead Jaguars to 26-24 win in Denver
(Photo byIf the Jaguars are the team that played in the second half Sunday in Denver, they'll be a tough group to deal with. Leonard Fournette set a personal best with 225 yards rushing and Gardner Minshew threw two touchdown passes as the Jaguars overcame a two-touchdown first-half deficit to beat the Broncos 26-24 Sunday. On the first play from scrimmage on the drive, Fournette went 81 yards to set up a Minshew to James O'Shaughnessy 18-yard touchdown pass, giving the Jaguars the lead for the first time in the game, 20-17. Fournette and Armstead combined for 247 total rushing yards in the game, the second-best performance in Jaguars history. But with 2:54 remaining, the Jaguars settle for a field goal to add to the lead, 23-17.

Fans react to Jags win in Denver
There was a lot of excitement at bars and restaurants following the Jaguars' 26-24 win at Denver on Sunday. Fans were on the edge of their seats, jumping up and down, and giving out high fives and hugs following the victory on a last-second field goal. Leonard Fournette did most of his damage in the second half, running for a career-high 225 yards. He was just the second player in franchise history to surpass 200 yards rushing. Of course, it's going to be a couple weeks before we can experience the hype for ourselves right here in the city.

4 takeways from Jaguars win in Denver
The Jaguars overcame deficits twice, including with a final drive field goal to beat the Broncos 26-24 in Denver. The Jaguars are now tied atop the AFC South with all three other division teams with a record of 2-2. On the road at one of the toughest stadiums for visiting teams, and trailing by two touchdowns in the first half, Minshew made all of the plays you could ask for. Fournette ran 29 times for 225 yards in the win. When Fournette ran wide, he had little success.

4 keys for Jaguars to beat Broncos
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - If everything falls right for the Jaguars, they could find themselves tied atop the division after this weekend. If the Jaguars beat the Broncos and the Texans and Colts both lose, all three teams would be 2-2 on the season. Here are my four biggest keys to the Jaguars victory:Give Minshew time. It's always easier to block out the noise after a win and it appears that this year's Jaguars team may be more resilient than last year's edition. While the Broncos are a slight favorite, the Jaguars have the momentum.

Fournette, running game, yet to get on track
(Photo by James Gilbert/Getty Images)JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - While Leonard Fournette appreciated the efforts to keep players healthy during the preseason, the Jaguars' running back acknowledged that the lack of playing time during the preseason has impacted the running game through the first three weeks of the regular season. Fournette, who finally busted out a long run when he galloped 69 yards against the Titans in the fourth quarter, has run for 59.7 yards per game, 15th-best in the league. Fournette logged only seven carries in the preseason, not nearly enough work during a game to get into a rhythm with an offensive line that has yet to consistently create big holes in the run game. "Especially with the running game, since nobody played any of the preseason games, I think that messed up a lot of communication. Also, you have to have timing with the running game.
