The fear is that a weekend of crowded pool parties, picnics and parades will fuel the surge. The warnings were sounded after a Memorial Day weekend that saw many people emerge from stay-at-home orders to go to the beach, restaurants and family gatherings. Dr. Don Williamson, head of the Alabama Hospital Association, said he is really, really worried about the Fourth of July."

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. A Palm Beach hospitality worker spent 27 days walking 417 miles to the state capital to raise awareness about Floridas unemployment system, which has been criticized for its difficulty in filing claims and also for delays in getting payments during the coronavirus pandemic. After his offers to volunteer to help clear up the backlog went unanswered, Beau Guyott will spend the night in Tallahassee before taking a 6 a.m. bus home on Monday in case he is recalled to work. He said he filed March 17 for state unemployment benefits and hasnt seen a dime, despite being told his application is complete. He spent most nights sleeping in a sleeping bag, with an occasional hotel room. His journey has been chronicled on the web site WalkTallahassee.com.

The New York Times reported earlier Thursday that Trump had filed "declaration of domicile" paperwork changing his "predominant and principal home" to his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida. Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line is sending its Grand Celebration ship to the Bahamas filled with supplies on Thursday night. The ship will leave from Palm Beach at 8 p.m. and travel to Freeport. Some Bahamian residents who were stranded on the islands will be brought to the U.S. free of charge. The cruise ship is loaded with food, water and other supplies. Officials with the cruise line say they will be the first to arrive in Freeport following Dorian.
