The Jacksonville Jaguars are getting an earlier-than-usual start on their coaching search.

Ryquell Armstead spent all last season on the COVID-19 list.

Wide receiver Jalen Camp became the first Jaguars' draft pick in the class of 2021 to sign his deal with the team.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Until this week, the Jaguars had only one active roster player on the Reserve/COVID-19 list, running back Ryquell Armstead. His case appears to be serious. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Armstead has been hospitalized twice since testing positive for the virus and will miss the rest of the season. According to the report, Armstead “has suffered from a variety of complications connected to the virus, including significant respiratory issues, and has been hit harder than some expected.”Coaches and teams are t allowed to comment directly on players' medical situations when dealing with COVID-19, but Marrone notes last month that he expected that “he’ll be out a while.”As a rookie in 2019, Armstead flashed as Leonard Fournette’s backup. When the Jaguars waived Fournette, Armstead was already on the Reserve/COVID-19 list, clearing the way for James Robinson to become the starting running back.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The Jacksonville Jaguars placed running back Devine Ozigbo on injured reserve with a left hamstring injury Thursday and signed former Tampa Bay running back Dare Ogunbowale to fill his roster spot. Ogunbowale could be in uniform for the team's opener Sunday against Indianapolis since Jacksonville has little depth at the position. The Jaguars waived Leonard Fournette last week, put Ryquell Armstead on the COVID-19 list for the second time in five weeks and then lost Ozigbo in practice Wednesday. That left them with undrafted rookie James Robinson, third-down back Chris Thompson and fullback Bruce Miller available. Another undrafted rookie running back, Nathan Cottrell, could be called up from the practice squad.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. Jaguars running back Ryquell Armstead is expected to miss significant time after landing on the COVID-19 list for the second time in five weeks. Coach Doug Marrone says Armstead will be sidelined ``a while.'I cant put a real timetable on it, but hell be out for a while, Marrone said Monday. Armstead missed most of training camp with a myriad of issues. He went on the COVID list in early August and missed 19 days. A fifth-round draft pick from Temple, Armstead ran 35 times for 108 yards as a rookie last year.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. No more Leonard Fournette means that quite a few players that Jaguars fans likely arent too familiar with are in line to replace him. A veteran, two second-year players and a pair of undrafted free agents are the players who are vying to replace Fournette. Chris is a blessing and Im happy as [heck] that hes here, said Jaguars running backs coach Terry Robiskie. The Jaguars picked him up after training camp last season. Now in his first training camp with the Jaguars, Ozigbo has gotten a chance to showcase his skills in Jay Grudens offense.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. Quarterback Gardner Minshew II was among the players who the Jaguars announced Sunday had been placed on the teams Reserve/COVID-19 list. Running back Ryquell Armstead, wide receiver Michael Walker and safety Andrew Wingard were also placed on the teams list. Players who are added to the list havent necessarily tested positive for the coronavirus. If a player tests positive for the coronavirus but is asymptomatic, he has to have 2 negative tests within five days after the positive test. If hes only been exposed to an infected person, he just needs a second negative test within 24 hours of the initial negative test.

And he was the best of the quarterbacks for the Jaguars Thursday night in a 29-0 preseason loss to the Baltimore Ravens. With 32 regular players listed as not playing due to either injury or Doug Marrone's decision, the Jaguars backups, and the backups' backups struggled against the Ravens, who played most of their starters early in the game. Last year's injuries have left a lasting impact on Marrone's approach-With the injury to Marqise Lee in the preseason and all of the injuries in the regular season that helped to derail the Jaguars' season in 2018, Marrone didn't want to risk anything in the opener. Will he put any of the regulars in the game next Thursday when the Jaguars host the Philadelphia Eagles? With the Jaguars sitting so many players, there is very little that can be drawn from this game, other than the Jaguars need to stay healthy this season, which we already knew.
