High winds have been a key ingredient in the devastating fires in Los Angeles -- and they’re picking up again.

Officials in Ware County are preparing for impacts from Helene.

Tornadic winds knocked nearly four dozen train cars off a track in North Dakota, part of a storm system that spurred reports of five tornadoes across the Dakotas.

While floods caused by storm surge are receding, residents are still picking up pieces and beginning the rebuilding process.

Southeasterly winds continue to push small, yet vigorous rain showers/downpours across the entire area. These rains will be very brief and will be possible throughout the evening and overnight hours. Winds will be gusty along the coast, a few peaks of wind up to 20 mph. Temperatures will be tropically warm and humid, in the 80s.

Very consistent weather pattern for us, easterly winds have kept our temperatures below normal. At times the breeze has actually felt coolish. These winds have gusted up to 30 mph which have built up the surf to nearly 5′, with seas offshore above 6′.

We’re off to a chilly start this morning so make sure to grab that jacket before stepping outside. Sunday will warm up into the mid to upper 50s once again with a few clouds filling our skies through the afternoon. Winds will be light out of the west 5-10 mpg but will increase the 8-13 mph this afternoon. Seasonal temperatures in the 60s will return Monday with mostly sunny skies. Temperatures will steadily increase into the low 70s by the end of the week.
