Angel Tree donations give the gift of Christmas to 3.5K children in Duval County
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ The Jacksonville Chapter of the Salvation Army is holding its Angel Tree Toy Distribution Wednesday. The charity is giving donated toys to more than 3,500 kids in Duval County this Christmas. โThis year, we had approximately 1,500 more requests to be on the Angel Tree than last year, so we know the need is greater,โ Northeast Florida Salvation Army spokesperson Major Keath Biggers said. News4Jax reached out to learn if the Salvation Army was able to find sponsors for all of the Angels. The toy distribution happens in the Regency Mall parking lot from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Diamond engagement ring dropped in Salvation Army red kettle in Jacksonville
Sorting through change that had been dropped into a Salvation Army Red Kettle in Jacksonville on December 1st, a volunteer found a dollar bill folded with something taped to it. โOh look, itโs a diamond ring,โ he said as he unfolded the dollar bill. Salvation Army distributes Thanksgiving food to 1K families

The children in the Angel Tree program are ages 0-12 and are from families who applied for holiday assistance with The Salvation Army in October and demonstrated financial hardship. Individuals, businesses and church groups โadoptedโ the children by picking up Angel Tree tags from trees at the Avenues Mall, Ashley Homestores and Sonnyโs BBQ across the area. I can only imagine what the childrenโsโ faces are going to be like when they see their presents on Christmas Day,โ Area Commander Keath Biggers said. Police search for woman accused of stealing Salvation Army kettle
WAYCROSS, Ga. โ Police are asking for help to identify a woman suspected in the theft of a Salvation Army kettle from a Waycross Walmart. The Waycross Police Department released images of a vehicle and a woman walking by the kettle. Anyone with information on the woman's identity is asked to notify Detective Sgt. Teresa Grant at 912-287-2929 or 2933. Tipsters can also call the police department at 912-287-2921 or the tip line at 912-287-2924.
