Various private water service companies have issued boil water advisories for communities in several Georgia counties, including some in Camden and Glynn counties.

Officials announced that all Ware County Schools and the Central Office will remain closed at least through Tuesday, Oct. 1 due to Hurricane Helene.

The National Weather Service Jacksonville has issue a Flood Advisory for coastal portions of Camden and Glynn counties. Up to two inches of rain has already fallen due to a stalled band over the region. There’s a possibility for up to two more inches before it weakens.

An accumulation of rainfall triggered a Flood Watch as more rain could occur.

Highs on Monday will be in the upper 50s and cool overnight lows in the upper 30s to 40s so frost conditions may return for Monday and Tuesday morning.Temperatures quickly rebound during the week and rain chances return by next weekend.

The health departments of the Georgia Department of Public Health’s Coastal Health District, which includes Camden and Glynn counties, are now offering COVID-19 vaccinations without appointments during specific times.

GLYNN, Ga. If youre going to the movies in southeast Georgia, you will be required to wear a mask. The Georgia Theatre Company has two theaters in Glynn, one in Camden and one in Ware. Just as other businesses are adapting to the pandemic while opening to customers, so are movie theaters. The Georgia Theatre Company is pledging to be cinema safe, an initiative launched by the National Association of Theatre Owners to follow COVID-19 safety practices. The first major new release, Tenant, directed by Christopher Nolan, is now playing in GTC movie theaters.

Immunizations and health screenings are an important part of keeping children healthy, and the health departments in Glynn and Camden counties are offering appointments now. Several vaccinations are required for school-aged children, and parents are urged not to delay those immunizations. Both the Glynn County Health Department and Camden County Health Department currently require appointments for services. The entrance to the health department for those seeking health department services, including vaccinations, is in a different location from the drive-through COVID-19 testing site. If your child needs immunizations, we encourage you to call the health department or your pediatrician and schedule an appointment right away.Appointments can be scheduled by calling the Glynn County Health Department at 912-264-3961 or the Camden County Health Department at 912-882-8515 in St. Marys and 912-576-3040 in Woodbine.

Camden and Glynn counties are switching to appointment-only testing for COVID-19 to prevent long lines and wait times at area testing sites. The Coastal Health District announced the change Friday, saying it would begin Tuesday in Camden County and Wednesday in Glynn County. Demand for COVID-19 testing has increased significantly in the Coastal Health District and around the state of Georgia, said Dr. Lawton Davis, Health Director of the Coastal Health District. Camden CountyDrive-through testing will be available by appointment every Tuesday morning at the Camden County Health Department at 905 Dilworth Street in St. Marys, beginning Tuesday, July 7. Glynn CountyBeginning next week, the drive-through testing site at the Glynn County Health Department will be operational Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and alternating Saturdays.

Were off to a mild start in the upper 60s low 70s with some scattered showers moving on shore and staying east of the I-95 corridor. Our chance for scattered storms will increase later this morning into the afternoon. Ahead of the rain the National Weather Service has issued at Flash Flood Watch starting at 11 a.m. until 10 p.m. tonight. Sunday will bring another below average day in the 80s with a 50% chance for scattered showers. Rain sticks around Monday before we start to dry out on Tuesday through the rest of the week.

The heat index is a measure of how hot it feels when the effect of humidity combines with the temperature. High heat index values can create dangerously hot conditions where individuals may become critically exhausted if outdoors.

We will see a few isolated storms pop up in the afternoon, accounting for 30% chances for rain. Expect predominantly partly cloudy skies and 40% chances to see scattered afternoon storms. Saturday is the slightly drier day of the weekend, with 50% chances for afternoon storms. Sunday looks wetter in the afternoon and evening hours especially, with 70% chances to see widespread showers and thunderstorms.
