Report of ‘suspicious backpack’ triggers evacuation of FSCJ South Campus, police say
Officers with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office responded to the Florida State College at Jacksonville South Campus on Monday afternoon after they were notified about a “possible suspicious backpack,” according to police.

Man killed in apparent drive-by shooting, Jacksonville police say
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – One man died Thursday evening in what the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said appears to have been a drive-by shooting on Delaware Avenue in the Lake Forest neighborhood. Goldfein, officers were sent to the scene at about 5:45 p.m., where they found a man believed to be approximately 25 years old. Goldfein said friends and family drove him to a hospital for treatment, but the man died from his injuries. At the scene, officers found a vehicle that had been hit by multiple gunshots. 18-year-old shot and killed by 4 Jacksonville officers during traffic stop
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A Jacksonville grandmother is calling for justice for her grandson, 18-year-old Devon Gregory, who she identified as the person shot and killed by four police officers during a traffic stop Tuesday night on Jacksonville’s Westside. Waters said that officers shot a passenger in a vehicle who became agitated during a traffic stop about 10:40 p.m. at the intersection of San Juan and Cassat avenues. Other than giving the reason for the traffic stop, police did not answer any questions about the shooting on Wednesday. Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom. According to News4Jax records, this was the 14th person shot by Jacksonville officers this year.
