Multiple Jacksonville Fire and Rescue crews were spotted Sunday afternoon responding to a fire at an apartment complex in the Sherwood Forest neighborhood.

A man is recovering in the hospital after he was shot on Soutel Drive early Sunday morning, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said it has identified the person who shot a young woman in the hand Sunday morning in Northwest Jacksonville.

The plan to bring a fifth liquor store in a Northside neighborhood has been turned down after a resident filed an appeal to stop the store from moving into the area.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Two women were hospitalized after a shooting early Sunday morning in Northwest Jacksonville, police said. While police were investigating, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, two women arrived at two area hospitals with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds. JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – A Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office patrol car was hit by another car early Thursday at the intersection of Soutel Drive and New Kings Road, police said. According to the Sheriff’s Office, the officer was headed east on Soutel Drive when a driver headed north on New Kings Road ran a red light and hit the patrol car. The officer and the driver were injured and taken to the hospital. Their injuries were not believed to be life-threatening. Lanes were temporarily closed on Soutel Drive and New Kings Road while JSO completed a crash investigation.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Police are asking for the public’s help identifying the driver of a vehicle sought in connection with the February hit-and-run death of a pedestrian in Northwest Jacksonville, the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said Thursday. The Sheriff’s Office said the hit-and-run crash happened Feb. 22 on Soutel Drive near New Kings Road. According to police, the pedestrian, who was identified by family members as 34-year-old Lynard Green, died at an area hospital. Green’s relatives, as well as family members of two women who died in an unrelated crash in mid-January on Soutel Drive, are now calling for safety changes. There was a community meeting Wednesday night on a proposed “road diet” for Soutel Drive, which would shrink the busy four-lane road into a slower two-lane road with a wide turn lane in the middle.
