A local woman who discovered Amazon had been overcharging her sales tax for years has now received a $750 credit from the company, and other local customers affected could also be receiving refunds soon.
Man involved in overnight standoff accused of firing gun in neighborhood
According to police, officers were called to the neighborhood around 4 p.m. Monday after reports of shots being fired. Patrol officers tried to take Taylor into custody, but he barricaded himself in the home and SWAT was called out to negotiate with him. Itโs a very safe neighborhood. I was neighborhood watch coordinator for years and people wouldnโt come to the meetings and stuff like that so I said โHeck with it.โ I said, โWeโre a safe neighborhood why botherโ and then this happens today. JSO said a risk protection order will be issued, which will prevent Taylor from legally possessing a gun again.

Suspicious man seen approaching homes, telling different stories raises red flags
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. โ There is a man going to homes in Julington Creek and Mandarin asking residents for personal information. Several people in the area have said the man approached their home at least once in the last few weeks. He told one household he was following up on a survey they never received and claimed some residents owe money. Neighbors didnโt realize how many others had been approached by the same man until seeing him on countless home surveillance images. One thing that stood out in all of the videos, was the way the man approached each household.
Road rage shooter sentenced to 22 years in prison
ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. - A Jacksonville man who fired a gun into a car filled with three people during a 2017 road rage incident in Julington Creek was sentenced Monday to 22 years in prison. Charles Michael Mohr, 24, was convicted of three counts of attempted first-degree murder and one count of shooting into an occupied vehicle. Prosecutors said that Mohr was involved in a road rage incident off Racetrack Road on Sept. 29, 2017. He pulled alongside the victims vehicle and began to confront them. As the victims attempted to leave, Mohr fired several shots from a 9mm handgun into their car, prosecutors said.
Emergency center set to open in St. Johns County

This facility is licensed by the state as an Emergency Department and gives St. Johns County rescue crews a place for patients to be treated 24/7. From chest pain to strokes to broken bones, emergency medicine trained physicians will help both adults and children during medical emergencies. The center is located at 42 Doctors Village Drive, right off Racetrack Road, just west of Veterans Parkway.
